2008 SuperLeague Formula Round 4 - Estoril

[EPIC_F1_STYLE_INTRO]This weekend we will have the fourth round of the 2008 SuperLeague Formula season at Estoril, Portugal - a home race for FC Porto, the sole Portugese team. So far this series has gone rather well with good racing but some hiccups with reliability. But at least we have seen all the teams actually getting a car haven't we, A1 .

We have substitutions!

Tottenham Hotspur : Duncan Tappy replaced by Enrique Bernoldi
Borussia Dortmund : Paul Meijer replaced by Enrico Toccacello (Formerly of AS Roma)
Al Ain : Bertrand Baguette replaced by Paul Meijer (formerly of Dortmund)
AS Roma : Enrico Toccacello replaced by Frank Perera

Is it me or is this likely to get even more confusing? Drivers coming in and out are acceptable but team changing is a bit confusing. Let's hope they try to say "one driver one club one year" for 2009 but that's beside the point for this weekend :P

The scores on the doors in the top half of the table are

1 Beijing Gouan 207
2 PSV Eindhoven 193
3 Liverpool FC 171
4 RSC Anderlecht 159
5 Sevilla FC 150
6 Tottenham Hspr 149
7 FC Basel 146
8 AS Roma 143
9 FC Porto 138
10 AC Milan 126

Official web stream here - Must have Octoshape (direct link to Windows installer) installed.

Times are (UK, times on site are GMT).

Saturday

12 Noon - Qualifying programme starts
12:10 to 14:00 - Qualifying session

Sunday

10:40 - Race One (44 mins + 1 full lap)
13:40 - Race Two (44 mins + 1 full lap with reverse grid)

Tappy is out as he is driving the World Series by Renault finale...

Toccacelo had some sort of dispute with Fisichella Motorsport and has conveniently forgotten the "I love AS Roma" stuff and joined Dortmund. Perera is a good replacement though.

Weird to see Meijer leave Dortmund after his qualifying heroics though.

Kinda odd that FMSI didn't try to get Marko Asmer in though :P

Also I don't see why Duncan Tappy is going to the Formula Renault 3.5 race rather than SF because he's doing rather well in SF compared to his FR3.5 results.

So, anyone feel confident enough on form to make any predictions yet?

No ... a good thing about this series is the unpredictability

True enough. If you take the reliability aside, I like the unpredictability created by the reversed grid in the second race and seeing drivers come up through the field. Its just that the point scoring doesn't sit right with me though as its only those who start at the back who are really going to be scoring on merit.

Will the world feed/webstream have commentary? Please let it be the previous outfit with Johnathon Green (?) and Bruce Jouanny, who is a surprisingly good analyst.

Bernoldi injured his hand. Jacko has done some FPA and did some of the testing.

Qualifying groups are

GROUP A: FC Porto, Galatasaray, Al Ain, RSC Anderlecht, Borussia Dortmund, Beijing Guoan, Atletico Madrid, AS Roma, PSV Eindhoven.
GROUP B: Flamengo, Corinthians, Liverpool FC, AC Milan, Olympiacos, FC Basel, Rangers, Sevilla, Tottenham Hotspur

Watched Race 1 on E2. Not bad actually, nice little series with good mix of drivers.

However although they sound fabulous, the cars seem a bit cumbersome and might look a bit beter with bigger wheels?

With Estoril having 2-3 gilt edged overtaking spots even the quickest struggled to put moves on people?

However Valles was impressive in that round, Doornbos nipped ahead in the stops but off camera Valles managed to get by I think?

Oh and the Beijing car is seriously quick!! Is that the driver or the set up?!!!

The cars are pretty heavy supposedly .. 720kg or so? That's why even with F1 power levels the things are slower than GP2. I guess much of the cars is from the DP01 spare parts bin. Bigger wheels would look nicer too. Rigon is quite good ... and so are Zakspeed.
