JEB has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Thursday set-up should not be a problem.
I have spoken with the circuit, and am close to finalising access details.
These will be mailed with final instructions, and also posted on the BRDC web site.

You could always try and win it yourself, of course, which woul dbe fun to watch - and I'd certainly be up for a tasty side bet that I'll finish ahead of your driver!

BTW, how many users names have you banned under now? LOL.

Great news from Voldemorts' website.

Mr Dempsey, although sadly not able to take up the FPA drive offer, will be contesting the WHT.

FPA loss is FF's gain! So who's going to win now? For sure it will be an epic battle and whoever triumphs I can only predict it will be compulsive viewing!!

From the news reports it looks like Dr P has adopted the great free prize traditions of the like "Free flights to Barbados (small print; when you buy two weeks at our rubbish hotel @ £500 a night)!

The drive is free but the compulsory insurance and crash damage fund would have set them back £5k. . .

this is slightly unfair on JP. The quoted £5k was the worst case scenario but this still was not budgeted by Pete and Cliff as they like most of us thought that a free drive is a "free drive". What happens is all FPA drivers put £2,500 into a pot and any crash damage is taken from the pot (A little daft me thinks). Then if Pete had a crash he would have to pay an excess of £1500 which is nothing in a FPA as the nose is over £2k alone.

So if Pete had 6 clean races he would then get back what was left of the £2500 insurance pot. But even that is quite a lot when the deal was a free drive.

I think JP should offer him £10k off the 2006 season instead but I think JP was a bit upset by it judging by his comments in Motoring News!!!

I think free should really be free. When my friends son Alex Lloyd won the Autosport Mclaren Young Driver of the Year part of the prize was a FREE drive in that years Mclaren F1 at Silverstone along with Lewis Hamilton and Jamie Green. They did not ask them to pay to insure the car!!!. Redracer has summed up the FPA crash fund correctly as i understand it however i am not sure the crash fund is such a stupid idea, in particular over a full season. I am sure it works out cheaper for drivers than paying for insurance, which is a fortune at that level. In a way its only like the police not having insurance on their vehicles as any accident damage is underwritten by Her Majesty's Gov. JP is providing the insurance through the crash fund.

Me and My Swift should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
We were asked to pay £850 for the test day which was on the Monday that we travel to Brands Fes, also to pay £1500 and £2500 up front for the insurance, all plus VAT and we were notified about this the Friday before we were due to go to the Festival. Then we got another e-mail to say about a test at Brands for an extra £200. The test at Bedford on the Monday was for 2hrs, 9 laps in and look at data then out again for another 9 laps and in again to look at data. So if you add all this up and include the VAT and flights etc, it comes to alot of money. I promise you we do not have that kind of money at this time of the year !!

I am glad for FF and the WHT that Peter is back in the Walter Hayes; however I think Peter really wants to win the WHT and it is fantastic to have him in the race!

Am I correct in thinking that JEB has been successful in his 'Quest' for another *Star* name, or am I making a right 'Herbert' of myself?

I'll second that..... As much as I wanted Peter to enjoy the FPA drive, I was gutted when they announced the dates, as I am committed to the WHT. I had planned to go to Brands for the last 3 races, but now it looks like my season will finish a tad earlier.

On a different note, a huge thanks to Cliff, Michelle, Peter, and all at CDR for looking after me so magnificently over the weekend - Phil B
