esorniloc should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Two wins on the trot with different teams!

Montoya has a chance at a record in modern F1 in Australia by winning two consecutive races, but with different teams.

The only time I think its been done was in the 50ís by Fangio when he moved from Maserati to Mercedes-Benz.

Can he do it?

I don't think it would even register in his mind. Such a "record" is almost insignificant, and the only thing he'd want is the win itself to establish himself within Mclaren.

Good question Colin, but I have to say no on this occasion.

It's an interesting statistic, regardless of how Montoya feels about it (if at all) I reckon it will be a talking point as the race hype builds up. Same thing happened to Rossi last season in Moto GP.

Indeed winning your first race for a new team is rare enough. Mansell did it in '89, which I think was the last time that happened. He didn't win the last race of '88 though. Hmmm. Interesting.

Prost did it in the first race of 1993 for Williams. He also had pole. as did Senna the year after.

This is such an insignificant statistical coincidence that I doubt Montoya would care. He'll certainyl want to win the race, he'll want to win with McLaren as soon as possible, but I suspect he'd rather match Fangio's 24 wins and 5 championships rather than something arbitrary like this.

You're basically right Colin, such a record would be relevant just for statistics lovers, as you are

Though, given one M. Schumacher's dominance of the record book, perhaps Montoya would be well-advised to snatch records where he can!

Who cares? Does it make Michael inferior to Fangio that he didn't win his first race for Ferrari? Do you think Montoya's interview post-race would mention this if he won?
