Michael H should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Volvo in the 2003 STCC - should they run S40 or S60 ?

Which model? Why?

S60 cause the new S40 is on it's way ... and the current S40 does not need promotion ... but .. when the new S40 will be on sale .. Volvo will probably switch ... and that's posible cause both are in the medium class ...

Volvo will run the S60 in the factory teams while they will offer Super 2000 kits to the S40 model for junior and privateer teams. The S40 will not be on the market for so much longer.

I agree--Since the S60 is newer and will be around longer, it's better to develop the S60 further. This way, there can be more information gathered from both the STCC, ETCC and S60 Challenge cars! Perhaps Volvo should offer all their remaining ST cars at fire sale prices to encourage privateers to buy them and race them in various amateur ST series around the world? Offhand, I can only think of 3--the NTCC (Norway), Formula Saloons (UK) and ASTC (Australia)

So are the S2000 kits designed to be compatible with all the JTCC S40 Challenge S40s?

I'm not absolutely sure about this, but I do think you have to have a Super Production spec Volvo S40 and then apply the Super 2000 kit. You can do it on a JTCC car as well I guess, but you'll have to modify it more than just with the S2000 kit that Volvo will produce and sell.

Will this S40 Super 2000 be a 'STCC S2000' spec, or will it be 'FIA S2000'. See what I mean? If its FIA spec, privateers could race S40s in the ETCC in 2003.

No I think it will be a kit suited for the national S2000 spec., it would be all to expensive with a FIA S2000 kit...

It shouldn't be that big of a deal or difference? STCC S2000 cars are just not homologated while the FIA S2000 cars are? OTOH, I'm under the impression that if more series switch to S2000 rules,I'm sure they'll the STCC S2000 cars to race with the FIA S2000 cars?
