888 Wont Sell Me Parts....!!

Handbags at 10 paces!

Roland won't sell 'transparent' hardware to FPR or HRT. Apparently it's against the rules to not sell these items...

What on earth would FPR do with a 888 engine head. HRT should pack in if they are that desperate.

Doesn't say FPR are the ones after the engine head?

I'd say this one is pure gamesmanship. HRT and FPR both approach 888 and request parts knowing full well that Roland will say get stuffed. So HRT and FPR leak the story to the media to make 888 look like selfish brats.

Surely they would be unable to bolt it on, but they could look and see what processes the head had been through to then try to improve their own heads.

The rules for transparency are there for a reason. The Chev and Ford blocks have had over 20 years of development specifically to these rules, so it is no wonder the quad cams are having some level of difficulty slotting into the mix.

I think it's cool that the other teams are testing this rule. It does seem a little silly to have an open transparent rule in there like that, which punishes development, but it is a rule. If they other teams can get hold of a 888 head and use it to their own advantage then more power to them.

The teams actually have the option to purchase a 'spec' Chev engine from V8supercars if they don't want to build their own. Thankfully no one has opted to do this, but it begs the question - who would build this engine and to what spec?

They're not Tripe Eight heads, they're KRE heads.

Sounds like they're barking up the wrong tree, and Mr Dane has made them aware of this in a round about kind of way.

Yes, it is strange that HRT is pursuing this, but Adrian Burgess is there now and he must know something and has spilled the beans.........maybe KRE give T8 something special that other customers don't get.

It is odd, considering HRT have already outsourced their engine program to InnoV8, who are DJR's engine builder.

Absolutely they are KRE heads. If it was so secret then Tekno & BJR would have to run their own engines. What a non story.

Where does this anecdotal bullshit come from?

If 888 didn't want people to know their magic they wouldn't have tendered to supply parts for COTF.

Whenever you see an article like this where nobody is putting their name to anything you can pretty much guarantee its rubbish. "sources" say I call bullshit.

Slow news day.

Sorry but this is incorrect. InnoV8 was a partnership between Roger Higgins and Steve Amos, which has now been dissolved. Steve Amos is now looking after DJR's Engine program which has been brought back in-house and Roger Higgins has gone his own way and has been doing consultancy work for HRT, which still runs it's own engine program, not outsourced.

Fail to see how it would make WP desperate. The rules state they can do it, so it would be stupid for them not to see if there are any ideas they could implement to improve their engine performance. That being said I don't think they have anything to worry about engine wise any more, this InnoV8 partnership appears to have been rather fruitful.

On the subject of teams supplying other team with components and chassis read post 423

http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...140584&page=29

A very interesting view I thought, small teams financing large teams.
