That's cool, but I'd really like to see them make a GT2/E car and compete with the big boys.

A GT2 car would be nice but GT3 is a good start. Maybe Nismo might take the GT1 car and downgrade it in the future to fit the GT2 regs.

There were people who tried to convince them to do GT2 instead of GT1... didn't happen.

There were people who tried to convince them to convert a couple of cars to GT2... didn't happen.

This fits their model of participation much better.

Stop wishing and be happy for what they are doing.

GT2 is jumping into the deep end of the pool ask GM/Corvette Racing. Some heads rolled at Risi over running out of fuel with less than half a lap to go, they should have never won Petit Le Mans but it is what it is.

GT3 is perfectly okay what you SHOULD be doing it emailing the ALMS and telling them this is a perfect time to announce that you'll be opening up GTC to GT3 cars.

Big, no bigger than a Mustang or Camaro maybe cause it actually has a backseat?

Ferrari, Porsche and Corvettes are not practical for daily use which is why most people don't use them daily.

Its called "Godzilla" for a reason, it whoops arse for considerably LESS MONEY.

I want to see what's bigger, the Mustang GT3 or the GT-R GT3. I would hate to be in one of the Z4's with either the Mustang or Godzilla behind me.

Still, I happy the GT-R is going to GT3. This along with the Camaro that's being developed shows that GT3 is still in good health.

Would love to see the car in GT3 as this championship really is the future of sportscar racing and is attracting pretty much every major manufacturer (Stephane Ratel has actually done something right for once). Maybe im opening a can of worms with this comment but the GT-R is a TWIN TURBOed 4WD car?!? Is it going to be allowed to race in this configuration or is it going to go down the gt1 route of sticking in a v8 NA lump in the front? Both options will probably provoke an "arms race" with the other constructors.

It's obviously not going to run as 4WD, just as the Lamborghinis don't. Non-production engines aren't anything new either (Z4!), I don't see the problem.

It has to be big. that is why it is called "GT". GRAND TOURING or GRAN TOURISMO. If it is a peeny tiny tiny then it would suit the LMP calss.

Alo big doesnt mean slow. IT is still super agile. You will see in the races. It will eat other "smaller cars".

E-I has a news item on the car:
-It's called the GT-R RC (Racing Competition)
-Figures quoted are 1520kg and 485hp. That's less power than the road car and much too heavy but I guess the engine can make more.
-The picture of the car's rear shows exhaust outlets that - I'm 99% certain - don't belong to a V8.

According to Speedweek the RS is only a track day toy/amateur racer, but could be the basis for the GT3 car. That makes a bit more sense, I think. 1520kg is brutally much for a GT3.

Yes, the RC is the Super Taikyu car, not the GT3.

"RC" is not a FIA-GT3 car.
It is a race car for the Japanese Super Taikyu series (but ST-1 class, GT3 car class is ST-X class) and for foreign one-make race.
This car is AWD and has only two pedal.

Japanese AUTOSPORT magazine scooped FIA-GT3 spec GTR test by NISMO at Fuji.
Test driver is Masataka Yanagida(Nissan driver). Tire is Michelin. It has twin rear exhaust.
The engine is obviously V6(!) judging from the photograph of the engine room(It must be VR38DETT of twin turbo).

NISMO announced that it would expand the partnership with JR Motorsport (JRM) to the GT3 project of Nissan GTR.
NISMO is developing GT3 spec GTR with JRM now.
JRM does the running test including the race in Europe, develops the vehicle, and produces the vehicle and parts in this project.
In addition, JRM will work on the customer support as a dealer of GT3-GTR in Europe, Russia, and the Middle East region.

I'd imagine that this means that we'd see JRM at the Spa 24 using the Sumo Power/JRM drivers that they use in GT1.
