Not sure where they are going to get 12 Maserati drivers from? (and one or two of the other marques might struggle too).

Lambo and Ferrari I suppose?

Besides from the actual size of the grid I can't really work out how the Porsche teams are going to play out. Larbre are off but Tech9, Auto Sport and Trackspeed are vying for two places, right?

No you need at least 6 cars with a maximum of 9 from a manufacturer so 3 x Porsche teams with 3 cars each is no problem.

The new XK, XKR, and Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano are the only new cars that have come out over past several years that weigh less than the cars they replace. All three use aluminum for their chassis.

The C6 Corvette is lighter than the C5 it replaces and still has steel frame rails. The Z06 is even lighter than the C6!

The C6 Z06 weighs slightly more than the C5 Z06 (new Z06 does have dry-sump, transmission cooler, etc that the C5 Z06 didn't have).

I should have said all-new cars as the chassis of the 599 and XK are more different from the cars they replace than the C6 vs. C5.

max cost GT3 entry car £175,000 - to keep lid on prices......

dont think all is right with some cars in series. Definitely not cost this small amount for certain chassis build.

In this case you are also talking apples and oranges. The C5/Z06 was basically an option/trim package for the C5. Whereas the C6/Z06 is a different chassis/car than the C6.

Andy seemed to like the car. Had nothing but good stuff to say at Nogaro about it, other than a few little niggles to work out!

Fond as I am of ripping the p*** out of Americanisms - 'Aluminum' is one that our transatlantic cousins actually use correctly

Frankly, spouting off with the lack of knowledge needed to make a educated assumption as to why it was done in such a manner is boring. When circumstances allowed it, the Z06, was built with an all aluminum chassis and even magnesium in the roof.

i'm beginning to look like an uneducated fool in the hands of HORNDAWG. I really should stop trying to tear America from its self inflated position at the 'top' of the motorsport world. Sorry to insult your country and i'll stick to making comments about FIA GT and LMS i think- i leave the ALMS to the informed...
soooo to attempt a rescue mission for my last dregs of cred, the Jag is nice, but the ferraris and porsches et al will probably be better at first- it will probably take a while to get up to speed.

This car ran at Silverstone on friday, and is without doubt one of the loudest i've ever heard. Beautiful note too. It ran quite well, but the circuit was damp most of the day so difficult to judge its pace. Good luck to them.

The car ran today at Silverstone without any issues . It was again damp and hopefully soon we will get some dry track time. Next week back to Silverstone for some more testing and in the dry for once.
