ADVICE - New lens for Motorsport.

I am looking at buying a new telephoto Lens for my Canon 550D body and am after a bit off advice on what Lens offer the best amount off zoom without braking the bank.

Last year i brought my self a sigma 70 - 300 because thats all i could afford at the time but now looking to go for something new, i will be manly photographing at brands hatch this year so if people got any advice or what to look out for

I presume from the spectator areas.

Do you want reach or quality?

Reach - Sigma 150-500 or Tamron 150-600

Quality - Canon 100-400 L

The downsides of all these lenses to a greater of lesser extent is that their minimum aperture is quite low, which means that once the light starts to fade, the lenses may struggle to focus and you'll have to raise ISO / compromise the exposure in other ways.

Thank you very much.

I am hoping to have the best off both worlds with the reach and quality.

Yes it would be used from the spectator areas herd its very hard to get any kind off media pass at any msv tracks.

Out of those three I would go for the Canon 100-400, I work on the basis that with lots of megapixels its often better to crop a sharp photo down than have a full size fuzzy photo.

Media access isn't difficult providing you can demonstrate the need to be there.

The Canon is definitely the better lens even though it is a bit shorter, the only problem is actually buying one at the right price, they rarely come up for sale because Canon users hang on to them !
Even one a few years old with loads of miles on it will still fetch over £500.

I have used this company and was pleased with the service, the web site can at least give you a good idea of what is available and prices.

I have no connection other than as a customer.

I have used a canon 100-400 with success even from the public areas at Brands.

Mine will be going on eBay soon. They do seem to fetch surprisingly high figures even s/h.
