ATF should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Race Length

I've been thinking about the news regulations for next year, in particular the 3 shorter races. How long will they actually last for? Will they be similar to the sprint races of 1998-2000? Or shorter?

And does this mean that Motors TV could show the races in full without having those ridiculously long advert breaks? If so, then it's a good move for the BTCC.

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Sprint Race size of 1998-2000

15 laps at most circuits
Probabily 20 at Brands And Knockhill

Oh come on....1 ad break per race....usually during safety cars, wasn't SO bad!

That's a point though, any safety cars next year will really decimate the amount of racing laps....will Reds be used more perhaps??

They may just not count, for example, the first 10 laps that are run under safety car.

If any laps are added on, I would imagine it would be no more than 5, which is what they use to add before this season, with regard to safety cars.

I think I read that race lengths will be around 25 minutes (e.g. number laps will depend on circuit)

As was said in the press release the race time will be similar to this year i.e. two 40 minute ish races. So 1hr 20mins divided by three equals about 25 minutes.

So in a program of one hours length like this year itv could not show the races in full. I cant see them making the show longer, just hope the race coverage isn't to condensed. Less interviews perhaps?

The ad breaks do seem long could this be to pay for airtime of the program?

I do hope that they don't cut down on the interviews and features as these are important to build up the 'characters' in the series now that we lack the 'superstars' that used to frequent the series. Having said that I'd also like to see more of the racing so hopefully TOCA can stump up a bit more to buy a few minutes more airtime for each programme.

i reckon three races would be good. and definatley drop the pits stop because IMO they ruin the race. touring car races should be just a charge to the line not relying on good/bad pit stops to sort out positions but racing skills and overtaking.

The total number of laps will be lower - 3 x 16 laps = 48, compared with 2 x 25 = 50, so why would the races be any more condensed than they are at the moment?

And with no pit stops, there will be more time for on-track action.

The ad breaks on touring cars are the same length as any other programme.

if you'd bothered to read my post properly you would see i have said i hope that the race coverage is not too condensed not the races themselves!!

my thinking is with less time for the races i.e. grid run down and interviews before every race. That there could be a danger of the coverage of the races being very condensed into just showing the race start an overtaking move, an accident and the winner crossing the line. Which would suck.

I don't think they will bother with interviews before/after every race any more - any probably only show the grid before the first race.
