I would say its stronger than 1999. LM 99 was great but FIA GT was a Joke, after GT1 had ended, FIA SCC was struggling to improve , and the ALMS was just starting up.

Now we have an established, strong FIA GT, a hopefully strong LMES (with prototypes), and the ALMS is holding up its end. Plus national series look very good.

I think a number of N-GT teams will go to the LMES because they can run 3 drivers (paying), wereas only 2 drivers are feasible in FIA GT.

Finally Jag, something we both seem to agree 100% on.

Im a little surprised about N-GT , Any news about RWS sport ? I also take it that JMB will be running 3 575 GTC , I think originaly the 3rd car was for LMES only . Any word on how the Saleen is compared to the rest of the field with their new restrictors ? Cant wait for this season to start !!!

Jag I dont know about u but Im thinking at in say 2005 the Spa 24hrs could well be bigger than the LM 24hrs, what about u? The reasons as to why I think this is we could expect anything up to 8 manufacturers in the race, those being. Maserati, Aston Martin, Lambourgini, Lister, TVR, Morgan, Vertigo, and Spyker. We should have Maserati, Aston Martin, Lambourgini and Lister for sure. As it stands at the moment LM is looking uncertain in terms of manufacturer involvement, at least for the near future.

This years Spa 24hrs should be the strongest yet too I feel, mainly because of Maserati joining the series as well as Lambourgini and Aston Martin, but also because I think we could see many LMES GTS/GT entrants enter the race to get some valuable miles under their belts for the Spa 1000km's, this of course will only add to the quality of the race, since the race turned back to sportscars in 2001 the event has just got stronger and stronger. Intrested to hear your thoughts Jag.

I somehow cant see that Saleen . LeMans is way too big a name for Spa to take away from it . The manufacturers want a LeMans win before a Spa win . More pedigree IMO .....

Any manufactuers at Spa will also be at LM. Plus the protoypes draw fans as well.

I thinks its the multi class format that makes LM special.

TMC is veloqux, and of course they now run the Audi UK cars.

News from DSC that Nicola Larini is the third test driver of the Maserati along side Fabio Babini and Andrea Bertolini. These will be the three drivers when the car debuts at Spa.

Also on DSC is the news that Gabriele Gardel will be Matteo Bobbiā€™s partner in a BMS 550. the other two cars like last year remain the same. The interesting thing is Gabriele Gardel has backing from Siemens, like bert longin.

getting back to the Saleens again.

5 are entered for the full season. it makes sense that 2 are from RML, 2 from Konrad and 1 from AB/Konrad. We know the lineup in 2 of the saleens (Alzen/Bartles Erdos/Newton) but what about the other 3? We know that the Konrad entries will have Seiler, Lechner, and Konrad. But what about a 4th driver? Maybe Gounon or Van De Poele? does anyone have any inside sources? what about the 2nd RML entry also? Will the drivers from Portugal be back? (Chaves, Ramos and Amorim) or new drivers? (Chris Goodwin?)

hope the press launch on Thursday will answer most of these questions..

Just read a article on DSC about GNM,the team is indeed planning on running 1 car in the FIA GT championship, with 2 drivers lined up at the moment, and are looking for a 3rd.

yea, and now what happens to the Max Stanco car? maybe he didnt enter the fiagt. Or, either nash or stanco didnt enter for the "full" season, and thats why there were only 5 saleens. or it could have even been that RML only entered 1 car (because as of now, they still dont have drivers for the 2nd car) and then Nash entered 1, Stanco 1, and the other 2 for Konrad/Vitaphone. theres alot of possibilites here. i think i should stop specuating, and wait for the Monza entry list to be published
