Who Autographed the 2018 #91 Porsche
Hi guys, I'm hoping someone here can help solve a problem for a few LM model collecting anoraks.
Sometime just before the start of the 2018 race, someone(s) autographed the bonnet of the #91 Porsche. The autograph(s) are clearly absent in the pre-race reveal, scrutineering, practice and qualifying session pictures, but can be seen (just) on the race car. The autographs have been reproduced by Spark in their recently released model of the car and are probably easier to decipher from the model. It's been suggested the autograph is from Derek Bell. Visually it looks similar and given the inspiration for the livery was Bell's winning 1982 Porsche 956 that would make sense. However, there don't appear to be any photos of Derek Bell at the 2018 race (though he was present for the Le Mans classic a few weeks later). You'd also think if he was there and signed the car, the PR people at Porsche wouldn't have missed an opportunity like that. Appreciate any input or insight you can provide. |
