Kirkistown & Mondello Events 2009

Mainly for the benefit of our friends across the pond who came to visit us last year (and of course anybody else who fancies making a visit over to sample our Guinness - I mean racing) here is the 2009 calendar of events for Kirkistown. I would imagine that it's the races that will be of most interest, but I'll list the other dates anyway.

RACES
March 28
April 25
May 30
June 27
July 25
August 29
September 26
December 26 (TBC)

RALLY
January 17

SPRINTS
April 4
July 4
October 3

KARTS
January 10
February 14
May 23
June 13
September 12
November 14
December 12

As soon as I know Mondello Park's dates I'll add them too, just in case you want to share a weekend trip between Kirkistown and Mondello - as Harry, Mike & Paul did last year. The only requirement is that you bring some sunshine with you!!

Hopefully we'll see you some time during the coming season

We certainly did bring the sunshine on our "Oulton Wanderers Irish Tour". We're planning a 2009 tour as well, hopefully with a few more "Oulton Wanderers". Let you know the dates once we know them!

Super! Maybe you can persuade Tom to come back too, he seemed to enjoy his day at Kirky.

I really wish Kirkistown would organise something the weekend before the NW200 then I'd be able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Hi H, would I be right in saying that the Leinster Motor Club will be holding their Anglesey event on the 4th/5th July? That one will definitely be a date for my diary!

I'm not sure if these dates are provisional or confirmed (perhaps EvilPumpkin will be able to let us know) but these dates for Mondello Park race meetings have just arrived in my inbox.

March 15, 29
April 12, 26
May 10
June 7, 21
July 12
August 23
September 12, 13 (Leinster Trophy)
October 4

And this is very provisional, but the Phoneix Park meeting has been pencilled in for August 8/9. Fingers crossed it goes ahead this year.

For any Irish marshals that want to come over to Angelsey but cant afford the cost of a car on the ferry (its b****y expensive) just let us know. I'm sure we could pick you up and drop you back off at Holyhead (only 10 - 15 minutes from the circuit)

Oh no, Legends at Angelsey or mad people throwing racecars round a public park in Dublin! I sense an "Oulton Wanderers tour". Now if the organising club does what they did a few years ago (4 marshals in a car gets a free ferry ticket!) then you may see the "oulton Wanderers" over again!

So for the Oulton Wanderers tour, that leaves March, April and June as options for another "Kikistown Saturday, Mondello Sunday" weekend... but don't forget the Leinster Trophy and (fingers crossed) Phoenix Park weekends too

The signs are positive so far, the Phoneix Park races (featuring the Dublin Grand Prix) seem to be going ahead...

What a slur on our characters. Why would emptying a small local brewery cause us a problem? It wouldn't even give some of us a hangover!

Having helped run the training day at Mondello this year, and being made SO WELCOME, I would recommend a visit. Unfortunately with my commitments this season I can't make a return trip.

Maybe next year?

Was there whiskey involved?

Unfortunately work commitments prevented me from going to the previous Mondello Park training day, although there is at least one more scheduled for this season...

I would love to come over again, but having volunteered for over 90 days this year, give or take a couple of dates, it makes it impossible. Although the thought of ''whiskey'' makes it tempting, especially after the visit to the Kilbeggan Distillery........lovely
