fatbloke should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Just for old times sake, I am currently watching the review of the BTCC in 1992 - oh dear, how could it have come to this current shambles ?

OTOH, the revised ST rules will bring you nearly back to the '92 cars in terms of technology???

But would it bring back large competitive fields and mad dog drivers?

We can only hope that you're correct Mr Chow, but I think that sadly the BTCC will take a little more reviving than that

BTW, why does every post you make include 'OTOH' ?

That reminds me, I've got a 1989 season video still waiting to be watched - now I'm sure that will make what we laughingly refer to as the BTCC today look a very sorry affair.
Might actually get round to watching that video tomorrow And I've also videoed the GT on 4 programme from this morning, so a chance to see the NSC from Donington. I might even see if I can stay awake long enough to watch the whole of the TV coverage of the BTCC from Oulton which I've also videoed. I never thought I'd actually say this, but I'm really not bothered about the BTCC this year. I've only been to 2 races and as for the TV, I watched the Brands races and then only got as far as watching the sprint race from Donington and then switched off the video. There was a time when I'd never miss the TV coverage of a BTCC race, but that stopped around the time of Knockhill last year and this year, well, I'm not missing much
If I'm heading down nostalgia lane tomorrow watching that 1989 season vid then I think I might have to watch BTCC Cavaliers as well - lots of real racing

Please don't, it's depressing me! But actually, it wasn't as long ago as '89 that the BTCC was good, honest! '98 had its moments, that Donington Mansell race was pretty great, you have to admit. I know I'm very young but have been watching this championship for a long time, and it was in my opinion getting better until '99, where everything seemed to go down the pan. Now it's terrible...

Oh, I'm not saying that the BTCC started to fall apart after 1989, far from it and 1998 did prove to be a good year, especially Cleland beating Mansell at Donington You could clearly see things falling apart in 1999 and looking back to last season it always appeared as if this season would be one in limbo waiting for the new rules. I just hope that the new rules haven't come too late. At the moment you might as well write off this season, but I really do hope we see a return to bumper to bumper (or should that be door panel to door panel ) racing that we can all get excited about in 2001!

Does your 1992 video go strange at the last round? Kieth O'Dor retires and the camera stays in his car, with no commentary then pans back to Hangar straight and the cameraman has problems focusing on the cars.
They must have 1989 vids somewhere. I've been searching since 1993 or just about.
