Safety and Medical cars

Just in case you were wondering what Bernd Maylander and his colleagues will be driving.

Hopefully we won't be seeing too much of either.........well,not the medical car anyway.

Well, they sure need to keep it updated, considering that A1GP uses this... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2327/...c5e84ab86f.jpg

But that said, a mean car. Must be a blast to drive.

Damn sight better looking than the A1 GP alternative though.

And the sound.

Well.. first you must prove that you're a very good driver.

No demerit points on your driving license will be a bonus.

Well, like most of the world's male population, I believe that I am a good driver (but I have a feeling that I'm not. Anyone who saw me at Winton driving S1 could vouch for that ) The second troubles me. In my first 12months as a solo driver, I have managed to lose 80% (4/5) of my demerit points, but only for stupid s&^t, including one victimisation of a P-plater, just cos I'm a young male driving a good looking car (my Fiat X1-9, the BLUDVL.)

So I guess thats my chance ruined. Maybe in the next life.

The current driver of the SC is former DTM driver and Nurburgring 24 Hours winner, Bernd Maylaender. Who drives the medical car?

A French geezer.

"The Official F1™ Medical Car is driven by Dr. Jacques Tropenat (France), who is a medic and amateur race driver."

Alfa Romeo is once again supplying the Medical & Course Cars for the Australian Grand Prix.

F1 bring their own Medical & Safety Cars (one of each plus one spare of each) the rest of the cars are supplied locally with some nice flashing lights that I wired up about 4 years ago.

I'm one of the Flag Marshals allocated to Turn 13.

The one just after the fast chicane I think?

Let's hope that it's not 'unlucky 13'.

I thought i vaguely remember a year where the Aussie GP had a Ferrari Testarossa. But i may be wrong.

And i found a pic of a Lambo Diablo Safety car... http://www.lamborghiniregistry.com/D...SafetyCar.html

A very good idea to have a doctor who can drive fast. So there's hope for any of you medical types out there.

I hope the cars are not deployed as they will in true Alfa fashion, breakdown before they get to where they need to be.

After seeing these cars today, I think they are freaking awesome. The noise they make is supreme to everything except F5000's and the Aussie Racers. They look cool going fast as well.

On my way back home from the After party, I managed to bag these snaps. Sorry bout any reflections, the flash managed to pick out the hi-vis jackets that the workmen were using
