This is not a financial problem of team Goh. Goh doubts whether this is a fair price and whether there is a GT500 team that spends 350 million yen as total cost at one season. I don't think such a team exists excluding the works team.
He is not a man of "Japanese racing village". So He thinks the price of 250 million yen to have been offered because he is an outsider.

alexkiller8 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
mmm well in this way the things change a lot....
this "manufacter" (maybe nissan that would to lease her fifth GT-R chassis) is not much smart.... team goh is one of the best private teams in the motorsport, surely is the japanese team with more experience in international races, has won at le mans and 1000km of spa and is the only team that won with a not-japanese car the old JGTC... if this "manufacter" is the one i think should be happy to have in his roster a winning team like that...

I was just going to ask whether Goh had knocked back the offer because he thought the asking price wasnt fair (as you said there are no doubts as to wether he can pay this but still no one likes to be overcharged) and that seems to be the case here. Shame that he has been treated as such but its the manufacturer's loss as Goh dont do things by halves and would be very handy to have.

Still interested to know who it was.

It might be Nissan. Toyota, Nissan and Honda have the gentleman's agreement that each one makes five GT500 cars run. However, Only Nissan is not fulfilling this agreement. And actually Nissan has increased one car (Team MOLA) at this season.
However, if it is Nissan, two doubts are caused.
1) Was the price that Nissan had offered a fair price?
2) Did MOLA pay 250 million yen? (I don't think so.)
The truth is in the dark.

Team LeMans's back shot. You can check high downforce spec rear skirt (Rear skirt and rear diffuser are connected unevenly.). This is a copy of HSV's 2010 version rear skirt.

This is a car produced by SPOON Sports for a Tokyo auto salon. SPOON said last August that it would not schedule to participate in SGT now. However, this car was not exhibited to 2011 Tokyo auto salon (Jan 14-16).

The GT2 cars are usually faster on tracks like Fuji but at a twistier track like Sugo or Autopolis the better aero of the Japanese GT300 cars gives them the edge so it kind of evens it out. Nice to see the Mosler getting a break..

The performance tuning that raised the MCG of the JAF-GT300 car (category B) by 10mm (and expanded size of air restrictor) was a focus at this season to equalize JAF-GT and FIA-GT.
However, there is a rumor that a certain team (Team APR?) protested against GTA that the FIA-GT cars were too fast. GTA yielded to this protest.

According to Car Graphic magazine, this year's GTR had been lightened by 10kg or more compared with the last year's car.

They still run @1100kg? Is this weight made up for in ballast? If so what usually is the cars weight before ballast? 1000kg, less?

Yes. 1100kg. The article says that last year's GTR was already lighter than 1100kg. This year's car is 10 kg or more lighter than this. So, the amount of the installed ballast increases, and the weight balance has improved.

Interview to Hiroaki Odajima of motor sports manager of Michelin Japan
http://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/...08_449749.html

Q. What is the meaning of participation in SGT for Michelin?
A. It is a competition that we values. There is no race for which such a lot of tire manufacturers compete except SGT. And, it is significant to compete in the home ground of Bridgestone.
Q. About Fuji round, the performance at the low temperature seems to have improved.
A. We were able to take the pole position in the situation with low temperature. It is necessary to run in the final race with the tire used in a super-lap this year. Our tire has gotten warm well between the attack laps. However, our target is to win at the final race.
Q. About the Michelin user at this season
A. We wanted to supply the tire to two team at time when we returned to GT500. We have confidence for two team supported by us this year. We did not withdraw from GT300. However, there was no team that agreed by contract terms. We want to participate in SGT for the long term. Therefore, we want to challenge GT300 again if there is a chance.
Q. About the tire development
A. All our motor sports tires are developed and manufactured in France. Therefore, we need time for the logistics 24 hours extra compared with rivals. However, it is not a considerable problem.

Interview to Hirohide Hamashima of Bridgestone
http://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/...06_449572.html

Q. Tell us the meaning to participate in this year's SGT.
A. We withdrew from F1 last year. We should succeed what we learnt for 14 years in F1 to the next generation. We want to introduce the technology of F1 into SGT. Some of engineers who are related to F1 participate in the development of SGT. The technology of F1 is sophisticated. The structure, the compound, and the prediction technology are excellent.
Q. About GT500, what is the advantage that you supply the tire to a lot of entrants?
A. It is a trade-off. The obtained data is abundant if there are a lot of team. However, because it is necessary to manufacture a lot of tires, it is disadvantageous.
Q. What is the target in this year's GT500?
A. It is our minimum target to win the championship. We want to challenge the technology transfer from F1, too. It is said that we are weaker to summer than rivals. However, many of the reasons are due to the weight handicap. We want to show that we are strong in summer, too.
Q. About GT300
A. We have not participated in GT300 up to now because our resource is insufficient. However, we received the offer including the tie-up of sales from AUTOBUCS who was the sponsor of ARTA this year. Then, we decided to supply the tire to ARTA. We want to aim at a good position from last year because they are competitive teams.
Q. What is your racing philosophies?
What should be valued most is safety. It is possible to proceed to the next step of making it to fast only after the foundation exists.

Interview to Jun Arakawa of Yokohama tires
http://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/...07_449652.html
Q. Tell us the meaning that the Yokohama tire participates in SGT.
A. Up to now, we have supplied racing tires to various categories. It is the Yokohama tires as for the racing. It is the racing as for the Yokohama tires. So we want to keep participating in SGT that is a top category of Japan. We expect that this year's competition intensifies.
Q. About GT500, what changes for you this year though the number of support team increases?
A. The development speed of the tire quickens because data increases if the number of team increases. We have won the race every year since 2007. We want to compete the championship this year.
Q. How about the relation between WTCC and SGT?
A. We are developing all the motor sports tires in Japan. The technology and the development technique are shared though quite the same material is never used with SGT and WTCC.
Q. About GT300, You are supplying tires to a lot of team. Are tires supplied to each team the same?
A. It is our boast that a lot of team are using our tires. It is our obligation to supply tires of an equal quality to a lot of users. But it is not easy to supply competitive tires equally. Tires that we are supplying to team of GT300 are basically the same. Of course, the size and the compound are different because of the team.
Q. Tell us what support you do to the team.
A. We never specially treat only a specific team. However, we recommend the best compound for the team. In GT500, we are sending one engineer per a team. In GT300, we are sending one engineer per two or more teams.

Interview to Toshiaki Ueda and Katsunori Nakata of Sumitomo Rubber Industries (Dunlop Japan).
http://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/...09_449860.html

Q. What is the purpose that Dunlop participates in SGT?
A. We damaged by the Hanshin Earthquake. After that, we have concentrated the resource on SGT and Japanese Super bike. There was a correlation in the result of the race and our sales before. However, there is no such correlation now. We value the education of young engineers and the applicaton of the technology to develop market tires by the development competition of racing tires.
Q. What support are you doing to the user?
A. We analyze the data, and are advising on the tire selection. Because this year's users are only two teams, a fine support is possible. Users request tires that have the durability in a high grip. And, they demand tires that reflect the latest test data. We can promptly correspond to the demand of teams because our users are only two teams.
Q. What is your target of this year?
A. We plan to advance steadily. We want to be having tires advance steadily by linking the circuit with the laboratory.
About GT500, Ryo Michigami was a development driver of HSV-010. Therefore, he understands best tires for the machine. Our tire evolved very much thanks to him last year. Nakayama has grown up, too. Our tires record good time in the test. They are competitive in the long run. Our problem is Qualifying result.
About GT300, Jim Gainer did not have time to test before the season. However, they have the great result. We had received the data of 458 from Dunlop Europe (UK?). Therefore, we were able to prepare the best specs for them.
Q. How is there a common feature between racing tires and market tires?
A. A common technology to both is about 2-30%. However, knowhow which technologies to combine to manufacture best tires is common.

*Sorry for my poor translations.

It was not from Dunlop UK but FALKEN Europe that Dunlop Japan received the data of 458. Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) is a licensee of Dunlop in Japan areas and owns FALKEN tires. There seems no relation in the development of racing tires between Dunlop UK and Dunlop Japan.
