That looks pretty damn good. (Even though they'll redo the rear wing to have different end plates instead of having the supports in the middle much like what Nissan did)

It looks interesting... the rear wing is likely to need to be lower & further back, like the Nissan, because of the shape of the rear...

Wonder who will get them across the line?

Probably no one. Its a render, just like the hyped Mustang render from the same company, just exhibiting his design skills.

Exactly

It's amazing that some individual person's drawings can get so much coverage on Speedcafe.... maybe a slow news day?

Chinese whispers also have Alfa joining the series. And before that Lexus. And before that Chrysler. And before that Toyota.

But the renderings of both the Mustang and now the Kia are well done, and a good illustration of the skillset SS Media possesses.

the kia rumour is more than a chinese whisper, it has had quotes from people within Kia Australia. Doesnt eman there is a commitment, just that thought has been given.

In theory both Kia and Hyundai could run cars using the same motor

Kia have the money, and the marketing requirement to re-brand around a more exciting type of car that fits the category - and coincidentally their large sponsorship of the Tennis finishes next year, so there's a few (coincidental) ducks in a row there.

GRM did very, very well with the Volvo - arguably far better than any other manufacturer with a new brand. Could put up a more compelling case than WP's recent history, but Walkinshaw is a big name in worldwide motoring, and the winning history of HRT is probably as big as any in the sport, ever.

The one sticking point is , Hyundai have a large share in KIA. Do they allow them to go about the business.
Me, it is an awesome car, I would easily ditch Commy, Falc(mondeo) Camry etc for one of these

They are believed to be spending $50m over a 5 year deal to sponsor the Australian Tennis Open - a figure that would enable them to go Supercar racing with aplomb and do all the marketing engagement around it, and then some.

Weren't the quotes from people at Kia Australia saying that while they were happy for people to race the Stinger, they didn't want to be the one's paying for it?

Pulling sponsorship of the Tennis and diverting it to a Supercars budget worked well for Ford didn't it....

Australian Open has a much huger reach than the Supercars Championship.

I imagine the spend on the Australian Open wouldn't be drawn from entirely from Kia Australia's marketing budget because of it's wide reaching TV audience? Whereas, would a Supercars assault be assisted by Kia HQ?

But these are Korean whispers so they must be real! Thoughts about joining could mean they've assessed joining and thrown that thought out within 10 sec of reviewing the cost/benefit analysis

Here's an interview with the Kia Australia boss he confirmed they've had talks with a team likely GRM but they've apparently had more discussions since this article was written

"If I don't have to spend the money, if someone wants to do it, of course I would encourage. But it is not talked about yet"

Would someone like Kia want to work with GRM given the dramas that happened when Volvo left? Would you want to risk that to your brand?

Probably more chance of KIA, participating in the 2018 Sydney Gay Mardi Gras parade.

Holden participated in this years Mardi Gras and they're committed to the series in 2018.

Package deal perhaps.
