The Porsche story is from Jan 19th - the AMG story is today's news.
Inside the AMG story is this: "The news arrives after Twigg announced plans to race a full season in the Porsche Carrera Cup this season.
Speedcafe.com understands he will no longer fulfil those commitments
."

Great to see Twigg full time in AGT in 2017.

STM moving to a full in house program also shows the strides AGT is making.

Chris Mies won't be around this year he just confirmed on his facebook page:
Quote:
Hello my Australian friends ✌🏽️
The start of the Australian GT is right around the corner and I guess it's time to let you know that I won't be there this year to give you a good show. I really enjoyed my past two years in this great championship, competing against so many good Australian drivers. My 2017 program is so busy with some more IMSA races on top that it's impossible to combine those programs. The Team and I discussed any possibility but we needed to agree that it just make sense if they get a full time Audi driver to assist them. I could Maximum do 3 events. In the end we both wanted to continue our great friendship but sometimes it's just not the right time. Thanks a lot for great time, including a title win and more important finding lots of new friends 👌🏽 I'll be back one day, when the calendar fits better, latest for Bathurst 12h with Jamec Pem in 2018! Good luck to everyone this year, keep your racing spirit

Sad news that Chris wont be back, lot of travelling i guess and opportunities more locally

Congested schedule forces Audi ace out of Aus GT

Ash Walsh will be in an Audi this year with infant friends sponsorship.

Ash Walsh secures Audi Australian GT drive

Miedecke Stone Racing seems to have 2 of their fleet of 3 Aston Martins for sale right now. Presumably this suggests that they are withdrawing from AusGT?

Presumably

Or upgrading to a newer fleet GTR.

Mies unavailability will lead to another Audi International star making their way into the Jamec Pem vehicles.

Come Ledogar jumping in with Fraser Ross is another sign of the strength of the championship right now

Perhaps they've seen sense and will put together a Dunlop Series attack this year?

27 cars, 1 up on last year , 7 less that 2015.

Good bit of marketing calling it a "record field"

Good marketing sells a product. The "record field" refers to the number of current spec GT3 cars in the field as opposed to the total number of entries.

Just find it amusing that certain posters would crucifya certain other other series for saying that, but happily accept it in Aust GT.

Lots of cognitive biases explain it:

Blind-spot bias, choice-supportive bias, confirmation bias... Take your pick

And certain posters would staunchly defend a certain other series until they were blue in the face for saying that, yet have a crack when Aust GT says it...

doubtful, I have never observed that happening.

But anyway onward to a "record" field. Its good news 27 cars. Big crowd, Biggest TV audience for the year

Great field - no doubt the Baird/Taylor combo will be up there with Ross/Ledogar.

Laim Talbot following on from the Bathurst success should be another one in with a good shot.

do we still have that silly driver pit penalty system for the sprint rounds.

From memory they only got rid of it for enduros

lambos have certainly come to play 8 out of 27, Lambo took the top 2 spots last year

no Peter Hackett

Late change for Bates from MSR to Eggleston's. Is the Aston getting sold from under him, or could he not be bothered continuing with his previous deal? Pity there is no reason in the story apart from Bates being told the Merc was a good car.

Perhaps the Aston Martin is still being rebuilt from its Bathurst shunt. This chassis, and the next-best one, are both still for sale on my105...
