Fish 2019 Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour

With Liqui Moly re-signing to 2022, and with the number of factory assisted and run cars across the field, 2019 looks to be being bigger and brighter than ever!

Plenty of sad stories from today’s 2018 race, motivators for 2019?

After todays crash fest ,safety car dominated race why would anyone want to go next year. After the professional display at Daytona last week today was a poor effort.

David Richards was floating around the paddock over the weekend which hints at an Aston return.

Ferrari and Nissan remain big questions

im not sure how that logically flows a year out, but following that logic

I saw Mark webber floating around the paddock over the weekend which hints at an Porsche drive return return.

Given that Mr Richards runs an Aston Martin racing team, and Mr Webber doesn't run anything, your logic is illogical

No very logical, sorry you missed it.

its just as likely that Mr Richards has decided he wont be racing an Aston Martin next year. Someone being there is no proof of anything

anyway Bathurst 12 hour 2019. how exciting

As much as I'm not a fan of the Huracan, Grasser certainly have them sorted out now.

Won at Daytona last week. Their main car in Dubai was immensely competitive. If not for early tyre failures, it was a definite contender for victory.

So yeah, wouldn't mind seeing them make the journey out here.

One of the Bentley boys said they will be back with the new car next year. Obviously easy for them to say that now and thats hardly a 'confirmation', but thats what he said when he was asked the question on Saturday evening

Webber was asked that exact question on the commentary by Mark Beretta on Saturday morning when he finished his hot laps in the ICE Break ride car. He said he won't be racing again

Nissan will be back, they just did not want to enter the old car again in 2018.

Nissan wanted to compete this year's edition. Just the new/updated Nissan GT-R wasn't allowed for this year. They still could go with the older spec car, but apprently both Nissan Australia as Nissan global not wanted to spend budget towards it.

Jonny Adam and David King from Aston Martin Racing both posted on Twitter they really would like to enter with the Vantage. I think it doesn't need to be "full factory" pro efforts, but a pro-am Beechdean i think could be as strong like the Black Swan Racing entry. Next to that R-Motorsport could enter their Vantage in pro, maybe working together with Matt Stone Racing.

From Ferrari you can't expect to much, really depends if a strong team can find budget and than might get support from Ferrari.

Had a quick chat with Mirko Bortolloti on instagram. He would like to compete. But for example this team Grasser had both the Daytona and Dubai events already. So therefore Bathurst is not possible. So if next year in the same situation, than maybe an FFF Racing Team from China might be an option for the event to enter a factory Huracan.

So my hopes are on the following manufacturers to be added next year:
- Nissan
- Aston Martin
- Lamborghini (probably need an asian or australian Squadra Corse affiliated team to run it)
- Acura/Honda (if Suzuka will be a success, I won't be suprised Acura/Honda might invest in IGTC and Bathurst)
- Lexus (same for Lexus, depending is Suzuka might be a success, i could see Lexus become part of IGTC)

Channel 7 back too judging by this release from the Liqui-Moly Facebook page

"7 Network’s, Mark Beretta and MotorActive/Liqui-Moly Australia Managing Director, Bruce Morrison delivering the great news; Liqui-Moly has signed on to remain the naming rights sponsor of the Bathurst 12 Hour through to 2022. Supercars Events, 7 Network (Channel 7) and Liqui-Moly are all committed to continuing the massive year-on-year growth Australia’s International Endurance Race has experienced since Liqui-Moly came on board in 2013."

There was a Squadra Corse team this year, I think it was Trofeo Motorsport.

I'm not sure how many times MW has to say this, but after racing F1 and LMP1, he has no interest in racing anything again. How on earth would you get a rush like those two cars?

Not sure. I've seen him there the last couple of years, but I only saw one person from SRO there this year. EDIT: Better answer below.

Wise words and good perspective from Ratel - which no doubt the topic will raise its head over the coming months in light of the # safety cars over the weekend.

Quote:
While the event continues to become more professional with 12 Pro entries this year, Ratel says the event must not lose sight of its origins and continue to cater for gentlemen drivers.

“We have seen growth in the professional area of the grid and we have to be careful not to lose the Pro-Ams, which are essential for GT racing,” he added.

“It is great to be more professional but we need to remember that these events are where they are today because of the non-professional drivers who were there at the beginning.

You would have seen him wandering the pits on Saturday night...oh wait you weren’t there....

We had forum members from afar as Europe and the UK make the effort to attend the race and for some not the first time so kudos to them.

Looking forward to next year already.

zing!

Hope Chaz doesnt get ostracized out from BMW after Sunday and gets it across the finish line in 2019. With his speed the last 2 years it would be close to 1st if it makes the full 12 hours
