What happened to TCM being for older bodied cars? I never agreed with the XD, even if it is just cosmetically changed from the XC. Allowing Commodores will be the death of the series.

Just as silly as a Chev-powered Capri that just entered.

I suspect we won't see the RX7, they can go race in the Group A/C races...

Not having Japanese cars racing and winning would be silly in the extreme, if an account recreation of touring car racing progressing into the 1980's is the goal, given the XD Falcon and VB Commodore... Without the high cost & risk of racing genuine priceless Group C cars.

To race in the Group A/C races the car has to have been a genuine period Group A/C car. There weren't that many in period ( compared to Falcon / Commodore etc ). Shouldn't be a problem to find some shells and build them up for TCM though.

People seem to think TCM is a Group C or production touring car inspired class. Its not, CAMS classify them as sports sedans and the class pays much homage to 70s sports sedans. And in the 70s Chev engines (or its derivatives) were in a lot of sports sedans like the charger, vw etc

So I have no probs with chev engines in them now

CAMS also classify V8 Supercars as sports sedans, that is not so relevant IMO, it is just how they fit into the classification. TCM are 99% Group C & previous cars - not sure any cars are specifically inspired by sports sedans?

But they are not an historic category hence many upgrades and freedoms. I don't agree with everything, but I recognise they have to 'make it work' and applaud the category for offering the "TCM engine" as a way of dealing with excessive costs.

The TCM rules seem to say a car is allowed to race if it is allowed.

So if a Ford Capri can run with a 6L Chev engine, could a Torana XU1 run with the 6L Chev?

I donít see why not.

I think it can be used in any current car bar the Porsche 911.

Ridiculous rule, a car should have to run with an engine that is the same make as the car.
