250 laps?

The track is 2.5 miles so its 200 laps...
and 500 miles is 800 km is it not? A mile is 1.609 km, so more not less.

250 laps would be 625 miles or approximately 1000km.....

So we could have called it the Indy 1000... but would it be twice as good?
