1st TGP, now Barrichello

This just in from Autosport.com

Second major smash forces champions to bring testing to a premature end of test. Just hours after Michael Schumacher wrote off his car at the Circuit de Catalunya team-mate Rubens Barrichello repeated the feat. The Brazilian lost control of his car on the entry to Turn Nine and hit the barriers hard.

Fortunately he was unscathed but his car was heavily damaged, and with no spare chassis available the team had no choice but to abandon the test. A team spokesman said that first impressions point to driver error rather than mechanical failure.

That could just me a big coincidence - but considering that they decided to leave straight away I'd imagine this was related to some new stuff on the cars which they either don't have replacements for or which is secret enough to need to go away and hide while they figure it all out. My guess is the latter - if Ferrari have got new features in their transmission which help cornering (as has been suggested by some as an explanation of Ron Dennis' outburst about cheating) they will have been seriously wrong-footed by a double failure.

Were they using modified F-2001's?

Bit of a surprise to see both go off but better that it happens now rather than in races.

May i offer three other possible reasons?

Case 1) Michael was enjoying holidays so much he decides to write off his car so that he could spent more time with his family while his car is being repaired. Rubens see the plan went off pretty well, and so, took his car out too on his next time out..enabling an extended break for himself.

Case 2) Rubens thought that he want to be better than Michael at everything, and when Michael smashed up his car....Rubens went for it!

Case 3) Isn't this the testing sessions? Nobody said that the testings is limited to the tarmac. You can race-test it, you can pit-stop-test it, you can start-test it, you can crash test it...

But what worries me is that how Ferrari likes to crash a car at almost every major test...count how many crashes they endured just in testing sessions alone from 2000 till now...

If they really want to dispose off their cars...they can always just give it to me...

Well at least they're trying!!!

The fact that they push so hard in testing allows them to reap the rewards of a faster car.

Put me down for a Ferrari too!!

Driver Error

Now Ferrari officially say driver error was to blame for both accidents.

Yea, right.

Even though they managed but a handful of laps before the smash-ups they still dominated the times.

And Rubens wanted to be the REAL "Crash Test Dummy"

Ah well, wouldn't worry about it. Look at melbourne last year, schumacher barrel rolled his f2001 in practice and went on to win the race with ease, it seems to be like water of ducks back!
