The only way another manufacturer is likely to get involved would be if someone did a deal like Erebus/Mercedes where the team fully funds it.

I'm highly doubtful such a deal would be done but would be happy if it happened.

Why are Supercars even organising a Chevrolet Camaro? Shouldn't it be a Ford Mustang Cup by virtue of being the last manufacture left sponsoring the category?

It increasingly seems that a balance-of-performance between GT3 and SC regulations would be the best solution, yet Supercars have mentioned nothing of the sort?

It would be a way to instantly involve the BMW M4 GT3, Nissan GT-R GT3, Lexus RC-F GT3, AMG GT GT3 and Audi R8 GT3 among others (with sporting parity to those running the Camaro SC and Mustang SC, so all seven brands can fight for victory!)...

Without such regulations, there seems little other way to get Walkinshaw BMWs, Erebus Mercedes, Kelly Nissans, Audi Performance Centre Audis and so forth onto the 'Supercars'/ATCC grid.

Who knows what will come out of the ashes of the SC era in the event of a change of promoter. One thing is for sure, it will have to be something it isn't now and the options seem to be getting less as time and industry change moves on.

In that case call Reiter Engineering and ask them to re-homologate their Camaro for SC!!

Why not just go for GT3 chassis and powertrains with touring/sedan bodies?

That could work, but Supercars prefers coupes.

Supercars could always officially homologate their Camaro and Mustang GT3 cars if they want (but that wouldn't be necessary really).

I'd like to see more but heading the GT3 way is absolutely wrong idea.

We have a good enough field atm, just hope enough stay and hopefully a few more join. No need to change the formula, it just maybe needs a few changes internally. No need to go GT3, it's mostly fine how it is

Especially as comparing to Supercars, GT3 cars are a bit unimpressive - not as tough to drive, the BOP still doesn't work ideally and we'd have similar conversations as with DTM now in relation to ADAC GT - what would make Supercars differ from Australian GT?

That is just ignoring the reality of what has happened in the last few years with both Holden and Ford stopping manufacturing in this country so the Commodore and Falcon have gone and they were the original focus of the series. The fans related to those cars but that can't happen anymore. Kill the roots and the tree dies.

The cheapest short term option would be to grab a bunch of TA2 cars, drop 6 speed sequential boxes in, run 18 inch radial tyres, and we have a cheaper version of what they are developing now. If they want centrelock wheels you could use a bolt on conversion.

Then in 3 years after the new category owners have settled in they can go to gen 3 (whatever that is).

Why do you need 6 speed gearboxes in the TA2 cars or 18" radial tyres. If you want to make a change, change the wheel from 15" steel to alloy to make them look a bit prettier. Keep the tyres they have know. The fact that the car moves around is one of the beauties of the class.

At least they would get rid of the dopey diff they use now. Take that away and the cars would be cheaper to build now as the front end would be much simpler and the need to drive through corners on two wheels goes away as well.
