Bit of a mish mash. 97 car without engine and gearbox and in the 2000 colours. Still an interesting project to take on.

But then, 6K GBP does not buy you the car. It's only the starting bid which doesn't meet the reserve. So it actually costs more than 6K GBP. Which is easier? Buying a shell like that and then trying to find all the parts to put it back together again or just buying a race ready version?
Though what about installing a street engine in it and driving it around? But then, it has no creature comforts? |

You've obviously not seen that horrendous green and gold Peugeot 406 that was repeatedly up for sale then...?

Thats a cheap showcar.... the spoiler kit alone should be worth that?
There are still a quartet of those 406's in Australia gathering dust since Patrick Watts showed us what they could do a few years ago... http://www.starion.com.au/ |

I was just looking to see what is up for aution at the Coys Sale at the Autosport Show on Saturday. Well up for aution 1997 Williams Renault Laguna, in fact its the car that Alain Menu won the championship in. The estimate on the lot is £25,000-30,000, if you want more details take a look http://www.coys.co.uk/auctions/aucti...ge=12&id=19833

And then it won the Independants title in 1998 with Tommy Rustad and I think it raced in Formula Saloons in 2003.

The intension was to run in Formula Saloons this year but I don't believe it ever made it onto track. Last I saw the car was at the FS test/launch at the start of the season when it was in silver livery and still in need of a fair amount of work.
I've seen it advertised on a couple of site, all using the same 1997 picture. Will be interesting to see what it actually looks like. BTW wonder where I've seen that pic before - http://www.redshoes-archive.com/info.php?ID=335 |

That Matt Neal car is advertised incorrectly. It won an outright race alright, but at Brands Hatch in 2000. The car that won at Donington in 1999 was a totally different car.

Having seen it today I can answer my own question.... I looks fantastic. Apart from Rob West's name on the window and the FSaloon decal on the door it's exactly as it was in 1997

Craner, I am 99% certain that you are wrong, The ex Matt Neal car now raced by Martyn Simms WAS the car that Matt won the £250k at Donnington.
