Huffy joins Chevvy
You read it here and now it's official:
http://www.seatcupra.net/huffyjoinschevy_061204.htm He will join fellow Englishmen Thompson and Priaulx in the exciting WTCC. And I know of at least a couple more Brits who look likely to join them... should be mega! |

Worth bringing it to the attention of BTCC fans who want to know that Rob has gone though. It's a real shame for the series, but it's great that a yougn talent has joined what should bea very strong team. I can see Chevvy taking podiums this year and wins in 2006.

Sad loss to the BTCC but a good catch by the WTCC. Just wish i could watch the series!!
Huff has shown promise right from day one and i'm sure he'll continue to impress in the WTCC and one day be champion either their or in Britain |

I'm pleased he's got a certain drive for next year. If he couldn't get a BTCC seat for 2005, and this opportunity didn't arise it would've been tragic.
A great driver, I wish him well! |

Lucky guy, from scholarship Clio driver to World Touring Car driver in under 4 years - not to take away the fact he has talent in bucket loads obviously.
I've said it before and will say it again - the WTCC is going to be something else next year! DTM may have the F1 boys but the WTCC has the real stars in it! |

Speedy King - the WTCC will be at Silverstone and on the box - we haven't lost him totally.

Can someone clarify for me, will the Chevys be run as Nubiras or Lacettis?

Think with RML running them the Chevy car will run good, also great news for Huff to be in there is nice to see teams recognising talent in touring cars, is a shame that kind of attitude doesnt seem to rub off on some other formulas, in tourin cars at least our drivers seem to be recognised as the best.
Also big up to the SEAT championship for providing us with a top bit of talent, letds hope Pickford is good aswell |

I think he's been superb this year and for me was the class of the field in only his 1st season in BTCC, it also shows that those who have talent and use their head can also rise the ladder to the professional ranks

Good news for him, I was hoping to see him fighting for the championship in the BTCC in 2005, but it's good for him that he's progressing onwards and upwards.

Would be nice to see him lose a few pounds, though - he's a professional now!

First JPM in the F1 forum, now Huff, there seems to be an obsession with driver's weight today!

I think he will suprise Larini and Menu with his speed but he will need to remain confident when the tougher times come during the season as they always do. imo.

Huffy has been given a unique opportunity. Perhaps not being in the shadow of Plato will do him some good. Plato was already established with SEAT before they started competing in the BTCC. A new team and new team-mates may well be the making of him.

But Menu and Larini are established. If not more so than plato. Also Plato was Menu's team mate at Renult. (not that it means anything :P)

Menu and Larini are not established in the RML Chevvy team though - and Huff has a year working with RML under his belt. Relationships like that can be important.

Surprisingly therefore, I think RML - Chevrolet have one of the best line-ups for 2005. With Menu confirmed so early, I was expecting some Touring Car boys with pocket money to saddle up the other two drives.
With this as a line-up in the first season, I think they would be dissapointed to not get acheive a win at some point - though that will be a tough goal against 6 BMW's, 4 Alfa's and Seat's now in their third season. I hope they pull a win off though. I think Larini & Menu will lead the team though. Larini & Huff have similar driving styles, and that should generate some interesting races this year. |
