I have ticket but I am not sure if I am going yet, mainly as it's the same weekend on the Britcar 24 Hours at Silverstone and I want to go to that as well.

I don't have a ticket yet, but should be getting some through the post in about 2 weeks or so.

150,000 people all heading for Donington.... get into the inside lane on the M1 at Milton Keynes or Sheffield depending on whether you're heading north or south and join the queue!!

Hope someone has warned East Midlands Airport - think there are going to be a few holidaymakers late for their flights that weekend

I think 150,000 may be a tad optimistic... but that how many tickets they think they are issuing... if you saw the pictures of the 140,000 that attended the same weekend on the Le Mans Bugatti or the 120,000 at Bilbao you'd be packing your home-made Grandstand and aiming to camp where you want to watch!
Still not a resounding display of support from 10-tenths yet... who else is going?

I think you could probably knock two zero's off the end of that figure!

That was sort of my point... with Valencia already being dropped for next year because they ONLY got 30,000 spectators, I'll be interested to see how many rock up given that only about 15,000 come to the average touring car meeting... I also remember racing at Donington in a GT meeting when a total of 45 people were rumoured to have paid to get in...

I'll be travelling up from Devon to watch - I was planning on going even before it twigged that tickets were free...

Maybe I'm selfish/snobbish, but I'm hoping the crowds aren't too huge - I can't be doing with all the casuals who don't know what series they're watching. But hopefully enough will come to convince Renault to keep the race on the calendar.

i think it'll depend on the weather. the racing's bound not to be hugely gripping, so if people wake up, look out of the window and think they don't have enough bothered to go, then they won't. ok, so that only applies to the locals who were planning to go but you get the point

As already pointed out the lack of locals to support will be a turn off. The spaniards had lots of their countrymen to cheer. Bilbao was sold out and it was not free,my ticket cost 120EU.

Can you camp at Donington and is it free?? Also, if you do camp, is it on the infield?

There is generally free camping at Donington but not on the infield (no facilities there). Camping is usually adjacent to the Dunlop Bridge but outside the perimeter wall. Don't know for this event specifically though.

I've heard that there won't be much if any available according to the Track offices, Renault have taken them up.

Thats annoying. Surely there must be quite a few people wanting to camp considering there is supposed to be over 100,000 people who have free tickets for both days!

Well I've booked a camp site spot nearby the track, but we will have to wait and see what it says on the tickets.

The confines of Donington Park tend to refer to inside the concrete perimeter fence ie spectator areas, paddock, infield viewing area etc.
