Thorney are teaming up with Neil Brown for their engines and Frank Wrathall uses X-CTech-R engines.

According to someone on the official forum Mike Earle has stated in MN that Arena won't be in BTCC next year (haven't seen this weeks edition myself).

STR have apparently said they are committed to next year.

Thanks for spotting that, now amended. Assuming there won't be any 3 car teams, and one or two teams don't show, thats still a 20-24 car grid.

Motorbase could possibly acquire this years Global Focus for next season?

Yes but why should they? The old car is probably faster.

Great news that RML are still looking at the BTCC. In my view it would be massive loss to the series if they left.

If its being developed for the WTCC next year, the car may be improved vastly. Just look at what the testing inbetween Snetterton and Knockhill did for Chilton.

Lack of testing really hurt Arena this season. I recall Chilton still testing one of the Mk2 Focus after the other two chassis had been delivered to Motorbase.

I think they were using it as a testbed for various components for the MK3 (I refuse to call it the Global Focus), but yes it was out at the same time as the first two Motorbase cars.

I have to admit the whole 'global' prefix does sound rather stupid...

So 888 are the latest to announce a switch to full NGTC next season - no word on what car yet though...

i think NGTC could prove to be the (re)-making of the BTCC. The cars look good, sound good, will be fast and the manufactures seem interested. Dynamics and 888 are top class teams, and i imagine they'll be followed by a WSR shortly (depending on the budget), 3 top rate teams running top class cars. After next year, after a year of proper mixed class racing, the world's touring car fraternity could just see how NGTC is the way forward, away from FIA led series, which never do seem to work for touring cars.

Pleased! (just hoing this isn't a false dawn!)

According to the story on btcc.net the Donington date should be confirmed in the next 3 weeks or so.

Long break in July will be due to a combination of Tour de France and Olympics. Can't work out why the long break in May. Is some other big sporting event that ITV4 will be covering?

It would be nice if Donington and Silverstone had two meetings like Brands does and like they used to years ago.

It's a 6 week gap between Thruxton and Oulton, that's a lot just to fit one meeting into.

Not sure it matters but Knockhill is the only meeting over a Bank Holiday weekend.

Andy Jordan on TTT has just said the Vectra is for sale, they'll be back next year (they have a Pirtek deal until 2013) but aren't in a position to announce what they are running.

Hi Medius

Got in late from work so missed the start so haven't bothered listening (will download and listen to it all in one go). Did Andy say if both Vectras are for sale, or is it just his do you know?

Yeah it sounded like there was quite a possibility of a full Pirtek NGTC car next year. An Insignia perhaps?

Good to hear about Triple 8 and Pirtek. Seems NGTC route is only logical choice now, so perhaps not a great surprise.

Hope Donington date is soon sorted out. Seems odd not seeing it there, and quite alarming for me personally as it is my local track! Still think it is the best track on the calendar, just a shame the infield etc is still such a mess.

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
As I said after the weekend in April, Donington needs sorting out. I love the circuit, and loved the venue before it was ruined, but the state it was in in April was NOT acceptable for a BTCC round.

He was talking from his position only so I assume its just his for sale, but I guess it depends who owns Jeff's car, Eurotech or Jeff himself. I think its the ex-Pinkney one?

Looked okay on the telly, when compared with say, Thruxton or Knockhill.
