People seem to be literally divided down the middle! It's still 50/50 after 70 votes!
I think it should be there, it's a 24 hour race for prototype and exotic cars, and in my oppinion it definitley falls under the exotic cars banner. I personally don't give a damn if the car has a performance advantage, it still has to last 24hrs. |

Just caught up with this after the jollies, this is the same discussion as the GT3 Mosler situation, when is a race car a road car? Here in the Uk I have never seen an MC12 on the road, do they even pretend to make a road car? The MC12 is surely a Prototype and as a coupe should be in LMP1, the ACO should not even consider changing the rules for one car whoever makes it as this would lead to all sorts of problems. I'm a NO for GT1
It is not really reasonable however for the ACO not to discuss the matter with the entrant before giving him the opportunity. I am sure Mr Bartels has had a very hot telephone in the last few days offering him cars to run if not the budget to do it with, Vitaphone may get as much value from the 24 in return on investment as they will from the whole FIA series, depending on their overall market. To take a decision like that in about 10 days is risky to say the least and he may just go for a known quantity and run an Aston or 550 |

Just had a look at their website to see if it had any info about numbers built. Couldn't find anything, but interesting to note that they claim to be still developing the car for the world's major sportscar racing series. Wonder how old that piece of copy is!

Another 25 were made in 2005 and a further 12 Special Edition "Versione Corsa" models were made this year. In total, 62 road cars. |

Aren't the MC12 Corse's technically track cars, and not road cars?

Personally I agree with Bentley03, the Vitaphone livery is very nice I think. Yes the Racing Box livery is nice also but I prefer the Vitaphone one. AF Corse? I dont beleive they have ever ran a MC12, JMB have though, but that was in 2005. Not a bad livery, but just another red bull backed car.

I will just say that the production Maserati MC 12 is 202.5 inches long, or about the same lenght as the Audi A8, Mercedes S class and the BMW 7 series (large sedans) its cousin the Ferrari Enzo is 185.1 inches long. The Saleen is 188 inches long (production version). I think you see where I am going, the Maserati MC12 was clearly made for racing first and the production ones are for homologation requirement only, basically.
