![]() ![]() Adderton definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea but he IS putting money into our sport and deserves some credit for that. Pretty poor form on AA's part. |

Wonder why Betty would bother buying into AA. It's clearly on the decline and both Speedcafe and V8Sleuth are well ahead.

No - the company (sponsor) pays.
No different to if the company spends a bazillion on TV advertising. All companies pay tax on profits, if they have very high expenditure and low income then they may earn little or no profit; if they have income that is way more than expenditure then they have much more profit to be taxed on. Either way, the tax payer doesn't pay a dime, because it isn't the taxpayer's money, it's the company's money and they pay tax on profit (some of their expenditure will of course be on the wages of the people they pay). In this case, if the marketing spend (sponsorship) is getting the reach and having the impact wanted, then it should benefit / increase income, leading to greater profit, leading to more tax paid. |

As a long time reader of AA, the way the magazine has trended over the last 12 months has lost me completely, the current stewardship of the magazine is disgracing the name.
And the decline I don’t think has much to do with Bruce Williams, he saved it and has been a part of AA for donkeys years, when Mr Clarke came on board seems to be when the attitude of the title significantly shifted…. |

Only bought AA, twice in the last 12 months for 2024 pre and post Bathurst articles.
It was regular purchase during the Chinese Curse Crisis, plenty of good and well researched stories. |

The sponsorship money is from Boost Tel Pty Ltd which is a registered company and sponsorship is a deductible business expense. It is also GST registered, so legitimately claims the GST Supercars invoices it for as well. Boost will pay corporation tax on its profit.

Interesting to see a hosting change at ErebusAction RevLimiter podcast
It seems Mr Gover has exited stage left, and replaced by former Castrol Cougar Ms Price. |

Is there any point to the new media explosion of 2024 driver and team assessment podcasts & vodcasts?
V8Supercars has one now assessing the teams, with people who may not yet be old enough to shave, looking gif every opportunity to proclaim driver x and team y did real good on this Friday in the afternoon session in Timbuktu which makes them all a bit less effluent than the previous season. Certainly a said appears to be a fluffy feather duster… with few insights as to why a driver or team or car or ownership is the way it is, and what is being put in place to make next season less of a disappointment than the one before. If one car is qualifying at the front, winning races, and generally being competitive as a possible championship contender, why do we hear trotted out that the fella in the other car won this championship or more likely came close but didn’t get there which doesn’t explain why the car hit a wall in practice st Bathurst then forgot to appear in the top half of the timesheets again.. And the almost orgasmic description of a couple of first and second year drivers, as if they are the second coming, yet had lots of bent cars and much-worse-than-teammate performances to show for it is glossed over as growing pains. Everyone wants to be everyone else’s friend, seemingly so they can access the Freddo frogs in the teams’ pit drinks fridge without having an oily bits toucher yell at them. It’s annoying, all of it, and doesn’t tell us anything! |

Very simple answer, don't read it. There is nothing happening now, all that websites are doing is turning something said in their own podcast, that was recorded weeks ago, into a news story, or turning something said in a press conference in Adelaide over a month ago into a story. They would be better off just rolling down the shutters and saying see you in mid-January, but they need to keep on punching out new stories to generate the clicks.

Actually to be fair they all mainly focus on Supercars only with occasional mention of other categories. All of them talking Supercars only talking about the same things week after week, no wonder the “Castrol Motorsport News” podcast failed to see out the season |

I must admit that although I am an avid reader of many motorsport websites I struggle with podcasts.... so much so I have never managed to hear one through and have tried but given up a few minutes in. I now dont even consider clicking on them and if I happen to click on a headline that interests me and it links as a podcast I just close the window.
Absolutely zero interest from me in the podcast concept, not at the length most of them seem to be anyway. |
