Is the Seat Cupra Cup in trouble?
After looking on their website
www.seatcuprachampionship.com[/URL] are seat in abit of trouble? I can only make out that they have 13-24 drivers at the begining of this week, from what I ahve heard in the past the champioships have to have at least 16 cars on the grid otherwise they will either be replaced or fined (heavily) Just wondered if anyone had any views to add to this or if anyone knows if they have some last minute drivers ready to sign up !!!? Seeing the prices aren't too expensive it seems strange they have struggled for entries especially after they were preparing 20 cars for the season |

Perhaps people have been put off by the lack of driving standards in the first year? Or perhaps they are npot impressed by the fact that you can do 30 races in the BTCC for twice what Seat want for the Cupra cup? Maybe they're even just a little scared to put their reputation on the line in a series where all the cars are supposed to be that little bit more equal than in other single make series - look at Formula Palmer Audi, Formula Zip and Lotus Elises - remind me how they ended up?

The Formula Woman Summer series is also in trouble. The drivers should all go TVR Tuscan racing!

They probably won't make any announcements about signings, until the testing on Thursday. That will be a confirmation of the line-up for Brands Hatch.
They were confident of making their minimum before the last test regardless of what happens... |

T-Cars look a bit surplus to requirements now as well - what with FBMW catering for kiddies.

i think the biggest prob is that they cost too much for the number of races they're running. for less money you can race in the clio cup, and have more races!

yes but then what do you do if you win the clio's? None of the top few from the last couple of years have moved into paid rides. You still have to come up with £££ to progress.
If you're serious about making it, the SEAT champ is a great alternative because of the prize... So although you get 8 less races - in the long run it is much better value IMHO (not even including the extra exposure from the TV). I'm suprised there aren't more takers - but it could be for one of the reason Craig mentioned earlier about reputations... I love the Clio's so it's nothing against them (and they are still cheaper to race) but I'm still surprised by the lack of entries in the SEAT's when you weigh everything up. For once, talent is being given an opportunity to make it as opposed to how big your cheque book is. Last edited by mystery racer; 20 Apr 2004 at 19:12. |

Another forum suggests that Tom Boardman will be out in the Seats , but I have no means of confirming this, so we'll just have to see who turns up at Brands for the Thursday Test

there's also the problem of a lack of sponsorship at the moment.

Tom should do well in the Seat Cup as he is a dab hand at banger racing.

If anyone has seen the size of the hospitallity unit in the paddock at brands, you would think that they was running 50 cars not 12.
Dont know where the rest of the toca support race teams are going to set up. 1 paddock rumour was that they will use the old GP part of the track for the other teams or use the kentagon. |

Thanks very much. Doesn't seem to be the quality of last year at this stage.
