Club Single Seater Race of the Year

Which was the best club single seater race of the year, and why?

For me it was the Formula Vee final at Silverstone in August - a truly mesmerising five-car battle for the lead.

Well from a mere Marshals viewpoint......

I was going to say the FF1600 race at Oulton where everything was going hunky-dory until the horrific crash involving Jason Minshaw and (I think) Phil Austin.
Cracking race until then!

However, having been at Anglesey last weekend, the first FF1600 race is a definite winner. Close racing throughout and still not 100% sure who won (Only bit of track I couldn't see was the startline) although I guess it was S. Roberts

My Dad thought that heat 2 in the WHT was the best race he saw all year. The one with Dunne, Wills and Dawkins all battling for the lead. Even better than the Dempsey/Gough battle in heat 4!

Gotta be either the Vee final at silverstone, that indeed was a close race. Or the final Vee race of the season at snetterton where the championship was still to be decided!

The Vees - hands down. That day I was introducing somone to vee who never seen it before - they are racing in vee next year.

Snet was a good race but Silverstone WOW!!! Almost pleased I blew up in the heat so I got to watch

Best single seater race - hands down, best race of the year too, best race ever? its up there with the first radical race I ever watched

That one was a good one Dave, but short only short

I would go for SOM at Donington this year, four leaders and was still action at the last corner!! The in car video is pretty entertaining

Other great one was foster in his semi at the festival - stunning!

Mmm yeah, the Festival Semi was rather good once we knew what had happened.

When I was putting together the SOM season review I realised what an incident-packed season it had been!

Yeah there was very few boring races (Rockingham - though I wasn't there). Every round was a good-un with loads of action!

Yep, Rockingham was a weak link, but there was something of note in every race - quite often involving you Justin!

So votes for FF1600 - as expected
Votes for FVee - as expected with Sam on the forum
No votes from the others yet.
Expect the Jedi cheer leaders to join in soon, plus the Mono lot

Where has Comtec Renault gone?

I don't care which race wins. All club single seaters are good for me - even when there is the occasional boring one.

I'd go for the Irish Vee's at Donington in May. The 2nd race was a 9 car battle for the lead. The lead changed constantly, and they were 4 abreast for nearly all the race.

heel'n'toe-no has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I would have to go with the last race of the season in the FF1600 race at Kirkistown. The battle for the lead throughout the race between Mike Edgar and Dempsey was superb. Edgar taking him at Colonial 1 on the inside then the outside (Broadside) was simply stunning. Suprising that this was Mikes only win of the season. Talk about leaving it all to do on the last day of the championship.

There were 3 that could take the title that day, Edgar, Dempsey (Favourite) and Gibson. After a very high speed spin in front of the pack at Debtors Dip Victor was too far back to challenge for the title. All Mike had to do was win the race and hope that Dempsey DNF'd. Dempsey did finish and took the title.

This is all stacking up for a great season next. As I will be competing in every round this year I will unfortunately not be able to watch any of the races so....I will need to wait for the press reports.

Good luck to all the drivers for the coming season, and could someone in the NWFF please PM me with the fixture list for this coming season, both Simon Olley and I would like to do a round or two, if you'll have us. We promise to leave Mike Edgars yoke in Ireland..........ha ha ha ha ha

Sadly I've only been able to follow the races online this year through www.clubff1600.co.uk - but Danny Watts performance in the last chance WHT race is a stand out for me.

That whole weekend must be up there in the race of the year stakes.

All single seater races have been good this year that I've been to... FFord Festival, and WHT were highlights, and the Winter Series races at Brands were very good aswell.
