If you're not going to Le Mans, then why not??
GCSE's
I've never been, and I probably wont get until at earliest 2008, cuz' ill be doing school exams at this time of year for a few years yet. I guess the Goodwood Festival of Speed makes up for it a bit though |

A-levels... I guess we're in the same boat. Except you've still got two more years of the same problem ahead

No excuse is good enough.
I shall expect to see both of you there next year. |

Yup! And when applying for uni,a term that ends before Le Mans will be a certain criteria also I live in Northern Ireland so its that wee bit more expensive to get there |

It is too expensive. The ferry companies hike their prices. The ACO have also made it a lot more expensive for the marshals with the moving of Pre Qual to two weeks before the race. It means that if marshals want to both it is either two trips paying through the nose for ferries or a long holiday. Plus there is the politics. I marshalled at Le Mans 5 times (1998-2002). It is cheaper to go to a NASCAR race in the US than to do Le Mans as a marshal

Yeh, I understand. Still, if it meant getting there....... Its just too important a part of my life over the last 20 years to even contemplate not going while I have the funds and the health to get there!

Not there this year due to operations on my remaining leg (was originally scheduled for June, delayed until 5th July, but too late to apply to marshal).
BUT will be back for 2006. ascarmarshal - secret is to book the ferry early!!! The earlier you book, the cheaper it is!!!!! Then get a friend to come and half the cost, ....................! Am listening to Radio Le Mans via Sky channel 907 - almost as good as being there (and drier at the moment!). Go Astons!!!!!!! Steve Marshal, poste 106 |

we used book our ferry in November and was still quoted over £600 for Pompy-Le Harve, besides I am more involved in US style Stock Car racing and going to Daytona is far more important |

Getting there from California is quite a commitment. We went last year, planned it perfectly, had an amazing time, and I'm planning going next year. Coming from so far away, we want to make sure we maximize the fun and ease of travel which usually equates to significant $$$.
