ADAC Procar

I've asked this before, but can someone explain to me the basics of the new Procar championship? Also, why has it had so little publicity?

19dodge should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
-two drivers per car
-45 minute free practice session
-two 30 minute qualifying sessions for each half of the driver pairings; their combined time will make up the grid.
-race 75 minute timed event, with a maximum of 45 per driver.

cars eligible:
division 1: FIA GT1
division 2: FIA GT2
division 3: Nürburgring 24h Specials over 2000cc
division 4: Nürburgring Gp. E1
division 5: Porsche Carrera Cup, 2005 spec.
division 6: Ferrari Challenge, 2004 & 2005 spec.
division 7: guest starters as sanctioned by the German motorsport authority DMSB.

Schedule: (note that not one event clashes with the FIA GT, however, the Sachsenring round clashes with the le mans test day)

April 15-17 Oschersleben
May 20-22 Hockenheim
June 3-5 Sachsenring
July 15-17 Assen (NL)
August 12-14 Eurospeedway Lausitzring
September 23-25 Nürburgring
October 7-9 Oschersleben.

Konrad has already confirmed that he will enter 2 saleens in the full season.

Thanks, 19dodge. An interesting proposition. But we'll need to see the entry lists, I suppose. Any more takers apart from Franz Konrad?

A number of teams are interested but it's too early to tell. I'd say 15 cars on the grid for the first race will be a success.

To further quote myself , "to ensure parity between these seven divisions in one field, the organisers have come up with a points system unlike anything the FIA, or the Can-Am, or any other series, has used before. The first 40 cars home are awarded points, with 50 for the win, 48 for second place, and so on down to 26th, from where they get 5 points each right down to 40th place. Add to this the points awarded for the finish within the class, which are determined by the difference between the number of starters in the class and the individual class result, multiplied by 5."

The official web pages will be on http://www.top10sport.de ("soon")

According to the organizers there are 60 teams interested so far. This may come down to 20 regular starters in the 1st season . Guest starters are allowed and the only limit for participant-numbers are the FIA-track-protocolls of the used racesites.

Looks not too bad so far.

Procar

Is this ADAC Procar series supposed to be a successor to "The Langstrecken-Pocal" ?

No, they have nothing to do with each other. The German Endurance Championship will continue, and will remain exclusively on the Nordschleife.

There are some cooprations of the organisator regarding the reglement for the division 3- & 4-cars but both championships will continue 2005 seperately.
So the Procar is another occasion to race such beasts:

This is what a GT1 Porsche could look like. This reminds me the the Kremer/Loos period.

The Vitaphone Porsche is probably going to drive in the Procar championship. New (turbo) rules of the Langstrecke races on the old Ring rule it out.
Great car though especially when you hear it sounds like a jet..

Except that these rules apply in Procar as well.

Why useless? let the Porsche first run according to that rules and decide then how competetive it is.
VLN/24h-Special may be the class with the highest entry-numbers (10 potential entrys so far) -a class win here (and I still think that the vitaphone-Porsche-driver-lineup is capable of that) will automatic mean the championship for that team

The Alzen car now runs with a boost that makes the PSI and A:Level 996 Turbos as slow as the best GT2 cars.

The other problems are the tires of the Alzen Porsche. There´re a lot of rumours that the tire problem is not solved. They only had luck that they don´t have more crashs.

Why should it be solved, the car is still as heavy as it's always been. 1350kg is much too heavy for a racecar.
(...good thing this isn't the NASCAR forum )

After they changes the tire manufacturer everyone at Alzen said thats ok and Pirelli did it too. But there are some other rumours that not all necessary informations are given to the tire manuafacturer

With less boost the tire-reliability problem may solve itself - whether to the satisfaction of the team is still open...
But the Alzen-Team would have also several other Porsches to race and the Vitaphone Saleen of AB-Motorsport is known as potential entry too

Wouldn't be surprised to see some Dutch Supercar Challenge entries as well. Marcos/Viper CC perhaps?

Do cou have a source for the TWO Konrad Saleen?

Extremly provisional. Currently only a list of teams who aksed for more informations is available.
For Wieth the Procar is only the second choice and for Konrad i see only one Saleen.

max. 10 GT2
