Too bad there wasn't anything more than a rumour of an ALMS Peugeot 908

Yeah I thought the same when I saw Ducote in the Bell Aston Martin during the Winter Test. Good news!

Wow, I really hope that article is accurate and we do indeed get a announcement from Peugeot. It really would be fantastic to have them racing in the ALMS as well as the LMS and no doubt be benefical to them in terms of fighting Audi at Le Mans this year.

I'm convinced that "will include the full ALMS series." actually means "will include the 12 Hours of Sebring". I just don't see them coming over for a full season, especially since Audi will be running 2 cars in the LMS. Plus there will only be 1 Audi in the ALMS this year.

Someone with LMP1 experience... I'll throw 2 out there to discuss; Intersport and Dyson Something worth noting is that if Peugeot built up new cars over the winter, there is potential for 5 908's in existence (test car from early 2007, the 2 cars used during 2007, and now new ones) |

I must say, if IRL and Champ Car merge in 2009 (excuse me while I go kill myself), there will be a surge in participants in ALMS. |

That is likely to happen as me getting the winning Lotto ticket and I don't play the Lotto. Dyson is also about as likely, I would say a current IRL team or OWR team could get the nod. I would say former F1 backmarkers and OWR front runners are high on that list. |

Personal Sponsors and other such nonsense were factors here. The car owners doesn't want to win, just competitive and maybe set himself up for an automatic bid to Le Mans in 2009??? Surely just showing up on the grid will see to that. So why not be serious and try on win? The car is fast enough without help from the IMSA, as it won handily in full ACO spec at Le Mans, though that car's straight line speed was surely a factor. Oh well. |

All might not be well for Porsche in LMP2 in the ALMS if IMSA and (for sure)the ACO have their way:

Penske will stick with the RS Spyder for the entirety of the 2008 season, regardless of what happens with the LMP2 regulations. Principle reason for that? The presence of Acura in LMP2.
While it was beneficial to highlight the corporate considerations of Porsche/Audi and how that could affect what we see on track, I think Oursler's article completely missed the mark on the importance of the Porsche/Audi nexus. Oursler even spelled it out in black and white: Penske's got one season left in LMP2, and the Audi R10 program will certainly continue for as long as diesel racing technology and its demonstration is a priority for VW. The RS Spyder customer program being developed by Porsche is a potential cash-cow, and the differentation of LMP1 and LMP2 only supports the desires of the VAG corporate umbrella outlined in the article. |

But what was written certianly could spell trouble for Porsche's customers, couldn't it.
