I know this may sound pedantic, but surely in that release they could refer to him as Ivan or Mr Stibbard instead of 'Stibbard'.
RIP Ivan, you served our sport so very well. |

RIP Ivan you left a very large hole in Aussie motorsport when you retired but leave a larger hole with your passing.

I am deeply saddened by Ivan's passing as I had the privilege of working under him as a volunteer official for many many years. Ivan was instrumental in creating the aura that is Bathurst and always had the best interests of the local community at heart-there would be no supercars without his initial efforts nor would the city and its residents and Council have become so supportive.
Ivan was always assisted by Leonie and they made a fabulous pair who took the time to know all the volunteers as well as the drivers. Ivan was responsible for the formation of ARDC Clubsport to cater for the interests of many of the volunteer officials and under his guidance ARDC Clubsport members had a sensational time participating in all sorts of club events ranging from lap dashes/supersprints, motorkhannas,dirt circuits to hillclimbs utilising the facilities of Amaroo Park. I was fortunate to catch up with Ivan and Leonie 2 years ago at the Supercheap 1000 when he visited Race Control-they knew the name of all of us old buggers who had been through the halcyon days at Amaroo and the 'old Bathurst'. Bathurst Regional Council has been canvassing the public in respect of naming internal roads at the Mount and I have suggested that Ivan be included. Ivan's mentor, the late great Jack Hinxman is remembered by "Hinxman Vista" thus it would be a fitting memorial to include Ivan amongst the names. We have lost a true motorsport enthusiast,administrator and bloody good bloke-my sincere condolences to Leonie at such a tragic loss. |

Without the efforts of Stibbard and Hinxman before him Bathurst wouldn't be the success that VE$A has been able to sponge off in recent years.
He was tough but fair and appreciated the effort many an interstate volunteer made to support his event at Bathurst each year. |
