In my opinion that's a positive thing.

I didn't know the Viper is much more expensive than the Corvette. I thought they were in the same league.
Now I can understand why they are struggling to sell the Viper.

They dont have a sequential transmission. They dont have carbon ceramic brakes. No trick suspension. Those are the big deal on the Vette etc.

Dutch team RaceArt has bought a Viper to enter in Supercar Challenge.
I think this is the only one so far.

That livery is going to be quite good on the new vipers. But the picture from the Road and Track article made me chuckle, becaue the Viper from 2000 looks an awful lot like the 2014 model...a bit skinnier but similar

As much as I like the retro red livery, this feels like a cover for the loss of Shell/Pennzoil sponsorship. Why would that deal end in the middle of the season, though?

While I am very excited to see that red and white stripes color scheme back I do wonder that myself. Well as long as there are 2 cars out there running full season I guess.

I expect to see the Dodge Vipers compete for victory at Watkins Glen for sure.

I was wondering about that too but in the end of that article:

"A new title sponsor is in the works, too. It'll be announced ahead of the Brickyard Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Late July."

Autosport has a writeup on it as well, speaking about a return to Le Mans. This ties in with other reports of their car in the wec. Couldnt be better imo.

Le Mans return should definitely be on the cards. They will need some work however to develop the car because it's not in the same league as the C7R right now. Also they were only doing 11 and 12 lap stints at Le Mans last year...Compared to 13 for Aston, 14-15 for Porsche, Ferrari,Vette

I suspect, given past experience with other (not Dodge) OEM and main sponsors, that its maybe more a barter deal than hard money, so branding given is an extra.

Really looking forward to the Watkins Glen spotters guide now. I hope that the Viper shade of red will differ from the Risi red slightly.

The Vette is brand new. The Viper was in its first full year when it was at LM in 2013. Next year they should be plenty strong with it being their third full season. I recall hearing of a new Viper towards the end of this year. I wonder if the redone Viper will race in 2015?

Could this be the "Return of a Manufacture" announcement we were promised at Le Mans? Didn't someone say something about it being a red car and it was assumed it was Ferrari.

Only two years late with this but good to see Dodge finally revert to what they should have been doing all along livery/branding-wise.
