Crash Test,

I don't know a think about this vehicle (suprise, suprise) but am currently restoring, messing with, a bright orange 1980 model rear wheel drive Mazda 626 for my son to drive. He being nearly 16 and interested in things mechanical.

Sorry I'm no help but I have spent the day swapping a gearbox in this car and the similarity of make and colour got to me.

Moff, now that you've got another Mazda, don't be asking for a 13B and injection or you'll get Dick Johnson all worked up again.

I dont know anything about Roger Dawson's Mazda. But I do know that Slim Borgud were about to enter two Mazda 323Fs in the BTCC 1995. He and Nickas Jönsson (both from Sweden) would drive the cars, but a sponsor jumped off in the last minute forcing them to ship back the two Mazdas to Sweden again...

JMeissner is right-Roger Dawson was set to run these two cars in the Total Cup for the swedes but it was cancelled at the last minute.

There was a blue one that Team Dynamics built for Matt Neal and he raced it in the 1994 World Cup and Toca Shootout at Donington, but they never used it again. Then I'm sure Slim Borgudd raced one which is that orange vehicle.

The Autosport issue I was talking about in that other thread was April 2000.

Do you suppose Roger Dowson has had the car under a sheet for five years!?

Do you think they'd take a part ex?

No one wants it probably. I don't think Rouse has ever managed to punt that Corolla he built either.

Blimey, Cav. I remember seeing that Corolla at Autosport NEC in... '97? (Was it on the CCC stand?) Awesome bit of kit, anyway. It fair breaks my heart to think of it sat in the corner of Rouse's workshop, covered in old blankets and Mondeo parts!

How much do you think he'd take for it?

That Corolla was sold to some who now races the car in some low level/amateur British rally series. Saw it some issue of Autosport mag I think?

Nope, the ad specifically said it only made a few test runs. Never raced.

Back in '98, I saw the infamous orangecar up for sale for about 45-65K british pounds. Don't know about the car at this very moment.

There should be one other 323F that was raced in the Japanese ST series. That car should still be in storage in some Mazda warehouse.

As of April 2000, 'the infamous orange car' was still up for sale in Autosport, but at £35k. That means it'll be up for a tenner in a couple of years time!

Do you suppose Roger Dawson Engineering still have it? It's shown on their site, and they do seem to have been peddling it for a few years now. Perhaps it should have been painted lemon yellow!

I reckon it's a bit cheeky to ask for £30000 grand for both of the 92 Carinas. Especially after that shunt at Brands
