The STIG should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sprint Licences

Can someone clear this up

What kind of licence do you need to go sprinting, and how much does it cost, also what other equipment (overalls and helmet aside) is needed, and can you share a car with someone else in the same event?

I'm thinking of entering a couple of BARC wales sprints next year (with a borrowed car), just need to get the costs sorted.

Thanks

try this site for a basic insight into starting www.mcmrc.co.uk . and for prices of overalls etc try demon tweaks online ......overalls , helmet , race numbers ( some people make their own but they are not too expensive to buy) ...make your own timing strut ( 1/2 hrs work) http://www.shpub.co.uk/tvrbooks/sprint_timing.html..join a club £20 ish ..licence £33...entrance fee for event £70 -£120 .....or to put it simply the cost of sprinting/hillclimbing starts at £300 -bankrupt ....

You need a minimum of a National B Speed Licence. I'm not sure what it costs but the MSA website will have details of cost.

If you are registered with the MSA as a marshal you can use the website to access the Blue Book. You need to look at Section L 10.1 for full details of all the safety equipment you need. In fact if you are thinking of taking up sprinting I recommend you read the whole of Section L as this is where all the regulations are.

The answer to your final question: yes, you can share a car with someone else.

Hope this helps.

You could always do a day at a Hillclimb/Sprint school, before you do an Event.

Would a Nat B / A Stage Rally licence be okay for Hillclimbs!

Any National B license can be used in Hillclimbs and Sprints so long as the event isn't for Nat A license holders only.
