The three wheeled Torana was a legacy of mechanical failure, nothing to do with body contact.

I can't remeber if Vince came up here or not. I remember last year's Historic meeting on the GP circuit at Oran Park, when he was quicker than the entire field by 3 or 4 SECONDS A LAP in the wet!

Now you've made me did up an old program- he was up here for the 2000 Historic Lakeside. IIRC, it took him a little while to get up to speed, but in the races had a great race with a heap of other red cars- Rod Dawson, Laurie Donaher, Heffo, Cuzzo etc.

Looks tidy, is that the dogleg at Oran Park, awesome corner!

I was told that all the heroes go through there flat, so I spent the whole Friday practice trying to do just that, lifting a little bit less each lap and towards the end of the final session managed it just once. The car came over the crest so unsettled that i thought it would simply be better to have a tiny lift and arrive at the next corner with the car tidy and settled.

The dogleg is so easy now! it used to be a real challenge but since the trucks have been running it is almost a straight line!

Yep thats going across the dogleg. I used to go across there flat but that is probably cause the engine was a bit down on power

You mean you couldn't lift the wheel off the ground and rev the guts out of the motor?

I won't ask where that telescope was pointing!

The ones at Wakefield recently have gone out of their way to be as obnoxious and ignorant as possible...

It's good see that they haven't changed in the last 5 years. I had a bloke once tell me he could hear slack in the steering of the HQ. Hear Slack, He is obviously a better mechanic than I am

It could be worse, you could get the Victorian female midget with the kneepads!
She was looking in the boot of my HQ at Bathurst for the roll cage mounts (they are under the floor and not in the boot) and got right into the boot to find them and somebody shut the boot!

It wasn't me!

But she didn't believe me!

And still dosen't.

Like the scrutineer that shock the drivers seat on the Gemini and asked if it was a reclining seat. It was but I said no it wasn't, then he said ok no problem. The same question was asked of 3 other cars in our team and the answered yes it was a reclining seat. They where all logged

- Recieved some fairly vicous reports from Saloon Car entrants who competed at PI for the Konicas- apparently they went right off. If you didn't have a standard light globe under your number plate, and if you had some stone chips, you were told to wee wee off...

I got logged at Bathurst because the horn didn't work!
HQ rules say you can fit a different steering wheel so no horn!
The Scruit said I had to fit a horn button on the dash!
I told him to read the rules!

At calder scruit told a bloke that his 25 year old Rainsford harness wasn't very good and the bloke said "I agree it's not real good is it" and thats as far as it went. He still raced with it.

lol

Also, I love it when they'd find a hole in someone's fire wall and they'd tell them to plug it up with tape

I told a scruit that I didn't have much tape left that I would have to use newspaper.

How is the Torana progressing, what stage are you at now? We do expect progress reports and lots of photos by the way.

Not too bad. Just chasing up bushes for the front suspension at the moment. It is supposed to go and get a Roll Cage at the begining of the week after next. I'll work on the photo's for you. I have found a set of 48mm Webbers for it so they will have to go and be set up soon but that shouldn't be too hard. But at the moment it is probably ahead of schedule
