The world according to Betty...

Hi all...so by now you may have seen the thoughts of our newest v8 team owner...I hope that someone who is as open about her life, enthusiasm for running a team and about Motorsport in general is not censored by the powers that be in the future.
The sport needs personalities and I'm sure not all will agree with her, but it's all food for thought from one person who isn't afraid to put herself out there...
Looking forward to watching the success of Erebus in our sport and hopefully seeing a few more personalities rise within the sport as she will this year.

Yes, good luck to Betty and Erebus..........it will be interesting to hopefully hear about the political side and how they contend with the evil red empire.

Would you kindly build a bridge and get over it? Stop polluting every thread with the same drivel. We know how you feel (good for you), no need to continue reminding us.

Go Betty I say! I really think they'll be a class act from the start, and those Merc engines sound awesome!

Good luck to her and the whole Erebus crew. You're going to need it......

On the other hand, wonder if VESA have a spot ready on the trophy wall for Betty to join the likes of Craig Gore and so on that have come and gone in the past......

Maybe Gina Rinehart should buy DJR!

Would add a whole new eliment to the series, watching the claws come out! & would detract (only slightly) from the Red Bull promotion juggernaut set to hit TV screens & race tracks soon!

I doubt it, there are a lot of differences between the 2 of them. Craig Gore's empire was built on a mountain of debt, Betty's seems to be built on real assets. Craig Gore also used motor racing as a tool to promote his businesses and wasn't really interested in the "sport", whereas Betty has a passion for motor sport.

Unfortunately I suspect Erebus and Betty will be the same as so many (of late) risk folk that blow into the sport, spend a bundle, and then promptly leave either through their own doing/undoing, or choice.

Usual tale - if is seems too good to be true, usually is, and this rapid rise just seems too good.

So now we know she hasn't built up a fortune, but living off her fathers work. All this said thou, she has old money, which from a lot of people I know tends not to disappear as quick as new money like our friend Mr Gore had.

Again, I don't see her sustaining the investment if things don't work out or the success doesn't come. But then again, with everything that she's been through and what she does, maybe she might just pull this off.

Its almost like karma is being repaid.. someone taking a chance on her, repaying it in full several times over, then choosing to do the same for someone else.

Nice

It was a terrific read. What a story and a great example that money doesn't always buy happiness (although she seems to be enjoying it now).

They've probably got a short rebuild target initially, to detirmine the service life of the components.

I'd say that'd drawn out a bit as time goes on, with a view to increasing the servicing capabilities of the team locally.

To be fair to GTR, to date he's been pretty "pro" Erebus and because of that I'd tend to think he's not muck raking.

The difference between F3 teams sending their engines to Germany and erebus sending their engines to Germany come down to a couple of important points... Firstly there's not a whole lot of devleopment cost on an F3 engine rebuild and probably most importantly, Mercedes want to be involved in F3, they're being paid to be involved in V8 Supercars.

I thought HWA were scaling back the F3 program and that's what created capacity for the Erebus V8 engine program?

That may well be the case, but they're (HWA) still supplying the vast majority of the Euro F3 series and plenty of other teams around the world...a quick check of their website shows a nice speil about their F3 (and GT3) activity while a search of the website for an Erebus or V8 Supercar reference comes back with no results... there's a difference between the having the ability to do something and wanting to do it (just ask a plumber how much he charges fora 1am emergency call out).

Looking at some of the responses here it's a worry that some are willing to judge a person on how they came about their wealth instead of celebrating the fact that they are investing in the sport we all enjoy.

I suppose some people are just wary that too many people with "money" have entered the sport and ended up burning a lot of people. Mind you, I don't see Betty doing this, but for some people it's once bitten twice shy.
