Please, please tell me that Higgy has got a full WRC campaign for Stobart Ford.
I know Matt Wilson is in there and deservedly so, but surely Higy has earned his chance now.
Also interesting the Peugeot Norway squad. Henning Sollberg maybe and AN Other?

I think Manfred Stohl really does deserve a chance, he amazed me this year and it'll be good to see how he goes. I also think Higgy should get his chance.

We might not have many works cars, but this is a great oppertunity to see some deserving guys get a shot.

Kristian Sohlberg will drive minimum 6 rallies with Turkish privateer team Atölye Kazaz Impreza WRC S10.
This far the calendar includes Sweden, Catalunya, Sardinia, Greece, Finland and Turkey.

WRC lost many manufacturers like we all know for the last year as Citroen,Peugeot,Mitsubishi and Skoda pulled off but luckily we are able to see some of those manufacturers runned by private teams.

I am still waiting this season and I think Petter might be close at winning the title and Hirvonen might take his first WRC win with Ford.

What comes to my favourite driver Francois Duval I have heard that he will do 10 WRC rounds with the Red Bull Skoda,co-driven by a legendary Denis Giraudet.

As a Formula One fan for years on end, I have become hooked on Rallying over the close season - due to the game WRC Evolved.

This will be my first full season watching the WRC, and am looking forward to it intensely. Is there anything I should know about the sport?

Haha, well dont read too much into WRC eveolved, get 4 or 3, much better!
Well for starters there are more than three stages per rally, and half the teams in the game have now pulled out!
But other than that expect Loeb to win Monte by, well now really coz noone else has a hope in hell!

Thanks very much Chunder haha...

I'll look into getting the older games. But I do love Evolved.

Are there any rallies/stages considered precious, like Monte Carlo in F1 or Indy in the States?

Monte is the jewel in the crown i guess. And you'll see why in the cover5age. Total lottery in tyre choice snow, ice or sometimes dry tarmac!
Finland is another, very, very fast and huge jumps, usually only ever won by Finns.
Acropolis coz its so very rough like the Safari used to be, bit more of an endurance event where car has to be strong.
Really, most events are similar But guess Finland and Monte stand out, and Sweden coz its usually on pure snow, so again tyres are tough coz if it dries the studs get ripped out

Quality - I love the element of mororsport meeting nature, rather than on pre-fabricated and designed race tracks. It's really enthralling, and I reckon these guys are some of the bravest in motorsport. It's hellishly dangerous from what i've seen...

I've seen bits of coverage before, but it's vague to my memory. Any information on British coverage?

Good post martin-1, I think you've summed up why a lot of people love the WRC.

ITV will run a highlights show on the sunday of each event.

I gather that Eurosport covers it in much greater depth, with reports on each day of the rally.

Unfortunatelt Mart you have picked a bad time tog et into rallying for watching in the UK as the British championship i think in 2006 is for Group N cars which are cool but not as noist and cool to watch as WRC cars.
But you can still see them in the national championship and in particular in Ireland. ANy of the Irish biggies like Rally of Lakes, Cork 20 or Ulster would be well worth seeing. Usually 20 plus WRC cars and good drivers, plus loadsa tail happy Escorts. Probly the best national rally championship in Europe.\They may even get a WRC round, been pushing for a long time.

There should still be some opportunities to see WRC cars in GB as the new WRC-based Rallymasters series will support several rounds of the British championship. However it remains to be seen how many WRC cars will actually turn out for this series...
