The only shame (and its very minor) is that a very good looking (IMHO) Porsche has been replaced.

Just to mention that the support races are all streamed live now via the individual championships, Facebook and Youtube pages.

British GT teams must spend an absolute fortune on testing.

Well they need to develop the cars somehow. Maybe they could cut it down a bit though

Teams have always spent money in varying amounts on testing. Some can afford to do private tests, some share, some test on track days and others are stuck with open testing the day before a meeting.
I don't think this has changed particularly last or this year, tbh.Which begs the question: why do you think "maybe they could cut it down a bit"? What would that achieve, apart from going into race meetings with no idea of what changes to the car might do? |

I guess if they have the advantage, they need to use it whatever way they can.
I don’t begrudge them doing this, but the organisers need to keep an eye on it, as it can spiral out of control as we know |

The biggest 'problem' that British GT has is allowing Platinum graded drivers (eg. Nicki Thiim) to compete.
It's using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, and must be costing someone a fortune (even if the manufacturers are covering it). It also takes away opportunities for younger (semi-)professionals to make a name for themselves. Good for fans though, seeing factory drivers competing in a National series. |

Well it supposed to be a mixture of both and there’s nothing wrong with that. Drivers like Thiim add to the series. Maybe they should consider a pro-am category?
If it wasn’t for these factory backed drivers maybe some teams wouldn’t have the backing to compete |

If anyone is planning to go to the Brands Hatch event and would be interested in viewing from a suite in the Brabham Stewart Building please get in touch or take a look at V8-Hospitality.co.uk or the facebook page.
Plenty of options from purely event entry tickets (with suite access) to full food and drink packages. |

Nearly time to pack the bag for Snetterton. If anyone sees me with the safety car in the paddock, feel free to introduce yourself

Will do - and we hope that your appearances on track will be kept to the absolute minimum. Remember to smile, you never know who might be papping you (as I believe the young people say) !

Snetterton should be good. It usually provides close racing for the GTs, whether on the old layout or the new

"It was struggling to meet the regulations, so we couldn't take the risk. Porsche actually wouldn't release the car in the end. That's why the G-Cat car isn't here yet, either. The new 911 is well over the noise limit, not even close, and the changes needed to get it anywhere near the limit would take the competitiveness out of it" That sounds like we might not be seeing the G-Cat car anytime soon either... |

I can understand the noise issue but is it truthfully that much of an issue? In Blancpain the noise limit is 110db and British GT 108db.

Don't forget that Decibels isn't a linear scale. Each 10db increment double the volume, so 110db isn't 2% louder than 108db.

In the GT races we only managed the pace lap, they didn't need us after that!
Next up: the Silverstone 500, with one of the variants of the 570 series so far as I know. Pity really, I'd just got the seat right in the 720 |

Sorry, back to front; yesterday was race 2, this is race 1. One safety car holding back a snarling grid of raucous GT3s !
Support grids now on Flickr - https://www.flickr.com/photos/dwh38/albums - working on the GTs concurrently. |

So here its reported G-Cat is expected to make their debut at Silverstone in 2 weeks time, no mention of if it will be with the Porsche or not.
