I'd be curious to know what the performance difference would be between this car and a proper all wheels same width mechanical AWD version of it.

Also from the video you can see when the flywheel boost kicks in out of a corner there is a pretty violent torque steer that the driver has to fight. That might make longer stints hard to achieve.

I also noticed that the drivers visibility in the turn in of a right corner is very poor. Almost impossible to see the apex.

Interesting video answering a few questions about the Nissan GT-R LM engine layout.
This should in particular clarify where the intercoolers are located, namely immediately below the turbos: |

That would be significantly slower, because the wider rear wheels would destroy the low drag concept at the rear. A version like that probably couldn't keep up with a P2.

I noticed that as well, the right pillar gets in the way but I wondered how much that had to do with how the camera was attached to the helmet.

Where are they receiving cold air from? They look more like a type of charge cooler. |

I know that it's just a dummy to represent Dindo in the cutaway car, but when you consider that TK is the same height as Dindo and you compare headspace in the cars, Audi doesn't seem to have changed their driving position much, and I doubt that Toyota did either even with the TS040 having a nearly identical roofline to the 2014 R18: And compared to both the 2012/2013 and 2014 R18s, the Nissan's driving position, even allowing for Harry's height, looks almost impossibly cramped. Andre Lotterer (at 6'1") is one of the taller drivers racing in LMP1 period, and he's had no issues with seating in the Audi tubs, and Alex Wurz, who's at least 6'3" (some sources have placed him as being as tall as 6'5") has had no issues with sitting in any of the Toyota tubs. The Nissan's cockpit seems to be really cramped by comparison to the Audi, Toyota and Porsche set ups. |

Toyota changed the seating position in 2013 to reflect the more upright position of '14+ regs.

Toyota came reached just shy of 345kph. If Nissan can really crack the 360 barrier, they'll have a huge advantage over the high downforce competition. |

Nissan has arrived at Sebring for some testing according to Shea Adam on Twitter. Could they be sharing the track with Audi?

Audi and Nissan are both expected to test at Sebring for five days starting tomorrow (source: motorsport-total.com).

Sportscar 365 has confirmed that Audi and Nissan are on the ground at Sebring. SC365 also has some photos of the Nissan GT-R LMP1, including one of the engine outside of the car:

I plan on being down there the next 2 days so I hope the gates are open at least. I'm surprised they're set up already as there's a Trans Am race and SVRA there today. It looks like Audi is set up over in Green Park like the Indycar teams do.

The engine like Audi also has the exhaust top inside of engine V, and has 2 admission manifolds with liquid-to-air intercoolers, both sides of the V... but unlike Audi is bi-turbo...
And there is a reason why the driver must have his knees so high... a 'firewall' (metal plate) between driver and engine... even so can be a problem in a front ugly crash, or if the engine blows up(wouldn't like to be the driver when that happens). |
