Jan 'Flash' Nilsson at Donington ETCC in Volvo S60
It is great to hear that one of the all-time greats, and a legend of Swedish touring car rcaing, Jan Nilsson, will be returning to the ETCC in a Flash Engineering Volvo S60.
Jan is a great driver. His team is ultra professional. I just hope that the mechanical problems that have plagued the car in Anderstorp and Spa are solved now. How do you think he will go? Donington is a lot like Mo-i-Rana - and Nilsson is ultra fast whenever he races there! |

So is the 3rd S60 a spare/backup car? An ex-Volvo Research/Development/prototype car? or just a car put together with spare parts lying around?

This is a completely new built car by Prodrive and also some by Flash Engineering. It is a "semi backup" car or what you can call it. When Hanson trashed his S60 at Anderstorp it stopped Flash's plans to take part in the comming race since Prodrive had to pick parts from this "semi backup" car to Hanson's...
I do hope Volvo will set a bigger budget for 2003... :/ |

The reason I ask is that I was under the impression this Flash-run S60 seems to have more electrical/engine troubles than the other 2 cars?

Flash will not be racing at donnington, the car is an ex-spare from prodrive, the only problem being, prodrive, out of six engines built, are keeping the only two good ones, for themselves..., nothing wrong with the car, only no engines available!
However, Flash will be racing in a 'Flash' engineering run, Ex-Prodrive S60, in the 2003 ETCC, (engines providing), there is still a possibility of a second 'flash' car, and one s60/s40 in the STCC, as far as i am aware... |

What I don't understand is why is Prodrive keeping all the resources solely for themselves. Since Flash is still ultimately racing a Volvo, I would think it's in Volvo's best interest to give Flash some more reliable engines,etc...
