Baby carts?

Hi,
I was at Castle Coombe on Monday racing my Formula Ford and Dunkerswell Kart club had a stand at Quarry corner where I managed to pick up details of Cart racing for my son.
I was informed that he was able to practice in a "Baby Cart" from the age of 5 . I was wondering as a total novice if anyone has any more information on these Baby carts?
Thanks for your help. Glen

Hi mate,

I dont have any info on these baby karts. But what I did with my son is bought him a very cheap cadet kart for his 4th birthday. He's 6 now and he seems to have hours of fun running up and down on private land. I restricted the engine when he first used it, but as time has gone on, I have gradually made it go faster (pedal stops were lengthened then shortened) I figured that if I can get him used to driving a cadet, then if he decides he wants to race when he's 8, he's alredy familiar with the type of kart.

Plus, I paid 200 quid for a complete cadet outfit, with spares, trolley, wets and dry tyres.

So if he doesn't like it when he's 8, I can sell the gear on, and I haven't lost out on the many many hundreds of pounds that it can cost to get started.

Sorry I can't help too much with your original question, but hope I have shown a different way of getting your lad started at a young age.

Possibly like this (I know I shouldnt post direct links but this ones ended and is for illustration purposes) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...8838&rd=1&rd=1

Good way to get them interested I reckon as long as you can persuade your local track to run them practice sessions. Where is your local track, Dunks? Its a great place, great people too. Wish I lived closer so I could race there more often.

bambino

i think they are claled bambino karts(italian for baby???) there are not many second hand or new ones really around, we are in north west and know of only EKS and one other company that does them.
Depends if your local track will allow under 8 and in what kart too!
are you southern based?

Hi Just wanted somthing to get him started. The cadet cart idea maybe a better way of going as I dont want to spend a fortune just in case but hes mad about racing.
I'm going to take a trip to Dunkerswell soon to get more knowledge of Karting. We race Formula fords and radicals but know nothing about carts. Any advice anyone may have would be helpfull. Thanks glen
