For now.

The option becomes more and more moot as the Euro Government's electric vehicle initiative takes over in the years to come.

Plus all they need to do is shrink the number of kms that is not subjected to speed limits for some reason or other ...

Spanish tracks are very much used for journos and Portuguese ones as well. I remember a press launch at Estoril, few days after a french endurance. We were testing the new GTR version and my coach was the driving school chief instructor. We just had a nice fight in the GTS category. What a nice track! Some VIP's are invited to use Ascari facilities from time to time.

Anybody watch the channel tunnel documentary on 5 last night? I've always been fascinated by these huge civil engineering feats, it's easy to forget some 30 years on just what a mammoth undertaking the channel tunnel was and the sheer enormity of spoil that what bored out along with the logistics of personnel and equipment.

It is not linked to the sense of blood circulation as for ovals I guess?
As to bidets, mind you we use to call Grp6 "barquettes" or "baignoires" when it was raining. Those things are one way only waterproof, they keep inside all the water they generously let come in…
See that, boobool, I found a way to relate bidets and historic cars! Phew, was just!

Funnily enough the only real oval in Australia, the Calder Park Thunderdome, (@Gérard this is the track I mentioned to you also ran as a combined Calder Park Road and Oval track for the WTCC and supports in the 1980s)ran in a clockwise direction, which is I believe the opposite of North American Ovals / Superspeedways whatever they call them..

AUSCARS as the local version of NASCAR was called, at Thunderdome back in the day.

I helped translate “engineering English” in to proper
English, and make sure the engineers actually answered the questions on the winning bid for part of that project. Some of the engineers i worked with featured in the programme.

There’s a claim to fame......

The London sewer system is fascinating, and a great feat of engineering. But I’m quite happy to know that from documentaries on TV, rather than personal experience!

I feel sorry for the people of Townsville in Queensland at the moment, suffering horrific floods. The street circuit used by the V8s is actually under water.

It is the level of rainfall that staggers me..... 1200mm in the last ten days. That is something close to 50 inches on the old scale.

Two young men have died in the floods.... allegedly having looted (or having tried to loot) the local bottle shop they got swept away whilst doing a runner from the scene and their bodies were discovered later in the drainage system.

Your floods have been reported here. An awful lot of rain, and just reinforces how extreme the World’s weather can be nowadays. Has it impacted the coast and tourist areas?

It’s the Chinese ‘Year of the Pig’, and Rolls Royce have celebrated in the US with special edition Cullinan SUVs...... https://www.motor1.com/news/303919/r...unar-new-year/

Depends what you call nowadays, Mike.

I recall when one of the directors of the company I worked for in the early 1980s moved to Australia to search new markets for our fertiliser products and decided to stay on out there. He used to tell us how the conditions could change from drought to flood in a couple of days, particularly in the Queensland area where he lived. That would be 35 years ago. Depends how many years that sort of weather has occurred there.

It is probably too early to tell the extent of the impact to tourism from the current flooding.... but the last major floods in Queensland in 2011 hit tourism quite hard for a good 12 months after.

Townsville, the nucleus of the current rainfall, is not really seen as a major tourist attraction in itself, being a bit more industrial. However it will hit local exports hard, as Townsville is a major export hub for coal and the Abbot Point Terminal, just South of Townsville is currently closed because of the weather. Also the coal trains are struggling to get through. The actual port of Townsville, is a major export hub for copper, zinc, lead and sugar, and has been disrupted by the rain, but it is still open.

The (Townsville) airport was closed until yesterday and now only running reduced services, so those going to other more touristy locations, or the islands are probably suffering.

Always I suspect.

Some storms heavier than others, some get more attention in terms of measurement.

And of course sometimes the effects are more visible because of development of an area that moves it on from the level of soakaway that might be traditional.

http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/curren....summary.shtml

However it looks like, at a glance, the recent weather has been persistent for longer periods that usual after a slow start to the normal weather patterns possibly due to a 'delayed monsoon onset'.

They did for a while, first was at Geneva Show. Mine is 2012 and it works fine. I think this was brought back by some US tuners.

2003 I think they came back. Look more obvious on the 2 door cars! Hopefully there is a mechanism that makes it impossible for them to be opened while the car is moving....

I see that Lincoln copied the style a year or so ago. There’s a surprise! Also fitted (4 dr) on the RX8 and i3, and 3rd door on the previous Mini Clubman.....

At Bimmer they do have homologation brilliant specialists I must admit. They had the C1 homologated as a scooter requiring no helmet but with two safety belts. Before, they had the Z1 passing through the tests with its sliding doors, I remember it took them a while before that. They work hard.
Didn't Lincoln had already rear suicide doors on the Continental?
