Sam Bird caught by the DSC paparazzi at Ricard in AF Corse colours. Hopefully he'll at least get a drive at Spa/LM. Still TBC.

Seems Calado is a done deal.

It's a shame AF Corse don't make more of announcements etc. Missing a massive trick on social media for such a big operation.

Different teams wanting different things I guess.

I sense a perception that the Morgan is a stronger car at Le Mans, while the Oreca is a better all-round WEC racer. I personally think that either car run by the right team and driven by the right people are pretty equal overall.

Well, Ricardo Gonzalez and DHH moved away from Oak to race in GTC and GTE-Am respectively, Rusinov become a Gold driver and wasn't needed by Millennium Racing - so he moved over to Oak with his G-Drive sponsorship and they also have a Silver in the form of Julien Canal. Not sure why KCMG switched though...

Bird is currently on the entry list in the #81. Maybe he'll drive the #81 during the WEC and AF Corse #51 or #71 for le mans? Just guessing..

Yeah I think this will happen. They don't have all the 458's there so this solution allows Sam to get some running.

DSC reporting that the 919s are already down in the 1:42s. Fastest big-engined LMP1 quali time in 2010 was a 1:41.1. Will we see that beaten by tomorrow evening?

Full track, but I don't know whether it's the same layout as 2010. Crucial difference is turns 1-2, they're using the full Mistral straight.

EDIT: there are 3 variants for the T1-T2 combination with varying degrees of speed.

We will have to wait and see what times are put in by the "Big Boys" (Audi and Toyota) before understanding (partially) just how far back Porsche are.

Does anyone else think RAM has wrecked their livery this year?



I thought the white 458s looked great last year. The chrome car at Dubai was also really distinctive. This for me is just a messy, watered-down amalgamation of the two.

I'm trying to find out whether this test session uses the same track config as the 2010 8-hour LMS race, since the 2010 cars were the fastest around Le Mans in race trim.

EDIT: Fastest lap in the 2010 LMS race was 1:42.541 by the factory Audi R15+.

As I haven't really been following LMP1 in the last few years (surprise!) , how far back are the Rebellions to the Audi's and Toyota's? One second, two seconds, two and a half, three?

I can't tell because of there being no official timing available to us right now and DSC are having problems updating their blog.

It hasn't updated in a while and as of last update, only the Porsches and one Toyota have been out on track.

They were around 2 secs back at the wec rounds iirc. Something around 5+ secs back at le mans.
