Can't say my heart bleeds for Comtec... I've had my own personal issues with them
Shame for Van Lagen though - sacked after 1 round where I don't think the results were necessarily representative of a whole season. Suppose there may be more to it but the quote on Italiaracing was pretty clear I thought. Maybe seeing Pippa Mann score a point and Cram prove pretty competitive with Fauzy tipped Lewis over the edge and felt like scapegoating Van Lagen. Don't think Danielsson will come back - maybe Jerome D'Ambrosio or Sean McIntosh or something... |

why couldn't they realize before Van Lagen was not what they needed for the season? I don't believe just one raceweekend is enough to sack anyone. Wonder who is coming to replace and how much will be asked in this case...

Wonder if Mr Donnelly will have any influence over this decision - If so, it could end up being a Brit perhaps. Whatever the case it'll have to be someone who can be a stedy influence and help with set up etc.

He should bring his old protege Jay Howard in for Van Lagen's seat, that would be cool!

Pavlovic is part of the best team on the grid, team which fought for championship for last three years, why change? It doesn't make sense to me.

I agree, Pavlovic would be silly to move since he's doing quite fine at Draco - he seems a bit of a prolific mover though doesn't he, so who knows!?
Not sure how much money Van Lagen brought to the team but he does have his own sponsorship on the car so probably a little bit. I actually thought he'd brough the Red Devil sponsorship with him but seemingly not. Wonder if they'll want another Dutch driver though?? |

Hi guys. I'm a newbie to the forums and after a few months of observing I thought I'd take the plunge
As you can see by my username I'm quite a big fan of the World Series. For me it's one of the more under-rated single-seater championships, full of exciting, up-and-coming drivers with some seriously good looking cars (better than the GP2 machines IMO). Anyway, back to the current season. It's a shame that Comtec have parted company with Van Lagen. I think with a bit more time he would have turned in some decent results. I don't think he would have challenged for the title, but a Top 10 position wouldn't have been out of the question. It'll be interesting to see who they replace him with - personally I'd like to see someone like Sean McIntosh in the car. I was one of the many people who thought that Vettel would sweep all before him this year, but I think he's got a real battle on his hands with Aleshin and Parente (a driver who I rate very highly) if Monza is anything to go by. In fact I can easily see the title going down to the wire in Barcelona like it did last year. And as a Brit, I hope Ben Hanley can put together some sort of title challenge. He didn't have the best of times at Monza, but Prema are a decent outfit and hopefully they can develop as the year goes along. Also, that was a nasty smash for Piccione in Race 1, glad he came out of it OK. Just goes to show though how safe these cars are. |

I wonder if we are going to see as much musical chair action happening this year as we did last year. I seem to remember Eurointernational turning up to nearly every meeting in 2006 with a new driver line-up Comtec also got rid of a driver (Edwin Jowsey) after the first round last year, and ironically it was Van Lagen who replaced him! |
