Great news for Alex. Chip certainly likes us Brits.

that's brilliant news, it's great to see Chip delving into the Pro Series to get new talent

If what it says is true and Lloyd is going to run some Indycar races in a third car for TCGR then that would be super

A strong English driver in a strong team is fantastic

Great news for Lloyd, great news for the IRL

That is awesome news. I'm glad Chip and Mike saw the potential in Alex.

I take it this was based on talent and not dollars?

Just thinking about it. Chip has got a bit of a Commonwealth team here for 2008. God bless Her Majesty.

Great indeed for everybody involved!

- For IPS: if their series winner gets a prestigious drive in a prime team, their credibility is boosted
- For Lloyd: obvious
- For IRL: Ganassi adding a prime entry is the best way to start the path to the next season

Great news for Alex. I hope he gets enough races. One good thing is that he will get to do the Indy 500 and that alone would be mega. Might be worth a holiday to Indy next year???

Great news. Pity it's not a full season but I'm sure he'll do enough to a get a full season in 2009.

What a great place to start your Indy Car career, with one of the top two teams, from last year. If that means doing a learning year, so be it. I suspect that by 2009 Alex will be a better and more prepared driver than if he had done a full season in a mid grid team. I suspect that Gannasi would like to run him for the whole year, but of course all teams have budgets and perhaps they cant stretch to a third car for the full season. If he gets the chance to do a decent amount of races, don't be supprised to see him win one.

I suppose Dan will head up to NASCAR in 2009, so leave the place in the #10 Target Racing car free to take for Alex.

Great news, it definitely paid off. Good luck Alex and Mr Jinxxx.

I've read that Ganassi is trying to place him with another team and provide them with some funding for this year but keep him under contract, since if he runs 3 cars he wants them to be equal and therefore he would have to raise ~$10M in sponsorship to run him, a full season at another team would teach him just as much and might only cost ~$5M

Ganassi has been quick off the blocks in signing Lloyd and in doing so has gained an asset for the future. I am pretty sure a few other teams will wish they had had the foresight as the future unfolds.

To run a 3rd car will not cost the same as running 1 car. A lot of Ganassi's fixed overheads are covered already. If it costs $10m to run Dan who is no doubt getting paid over $4million of that. To run a 3rd car on the back of the team will maybe only cost about as a guess $4m. With money from sponsorship and prize money it would not be difficult to raise that money. My guess is Dan will head off to Nascar in 2009 (not with Ganassi) and that will leave Alex in the A1 driver for 2009 and a slot for another young rookie to move up

I didn't know Ganassi had anything to do with A1GP

Chip is good like that.

Someone should look at Wade Cunningham also in the same light

Does Ganassi have a history of signing drivers from the relevant feeder categories?

Just trying to think, he usually went for the Euro categories or from other ChampCar/IRL teams

This is the first time that I can recall Chip signing someone from either ladder series.
