KWhittle should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Lotus 34

In 1964 Lotus built three type 34 cars for Indy. I know one was crashed. Also that in 1965, at Indy one suffered a broken front upright that caused USAC to ground them.

Where are the cars now ?

Hi Kevin

I'm sure you know this already but the Ferguson/Nye book says
a) Clark's #6 car -> Agajanian/Parnelli
b) Gurney's #12 car -> written off
c) The #38 spare -> AJ Foyt

Foyt ran his car for the rest of 1964 and 1965 and Snider drove it once at the beginning of 1966. In Doug Nye's appendix to the Ferguson book it says that car was sold at the Foyt auction in 1994 and was in Pat Ryan's collection in 1996.

Parnelli drove his car well into 1965 and the appendix said he was reputed to still have that car in 1996.

Dans Car no 12

Thans for that Allen.
It seems as if the damaged car was returned to Cheshunt and sat there while Ford argued over its $22000 repair quote.
A Ferguson gives it as 34/1 but does say the cars probably swapped plates on occasions.
When Ford finally declined to pay for the repair, the car was broken up at Cheshunt and salvagable parts sent to Ford USA.

Where was Cedric Selzer, what was he thinking of ?

Kevin

My reading of the book is that neither Andrew nor Doug knew the chassis numbers of the cars and allocated '1', '2' and '3' to them purely for convenience.
