Uk tyres are identical, but the uk cars do seem to wear them differently, no point using them to set your car up then throwing a new set on cause the set up wont work, from my experience anyway.

there were some advertised recently, but i believe they were over priced at £100, normally budget about £50 - 60 second hand

£50 - £60 for a set of wheels thats a bargain!

Are the gear ratios fixed or do I have to ask people nicely for starting points?

per wheel i'm afraid, but thats still good value for a race wheel. inner & outer rims are about £20 each second hand. You will normally only damage an outer unless you have very big accident. Ratios are fixed, most cars in this country will already have the right ones in though

Thought that was cheap!

That's good seem to spend half my life covered in mobil gear oil changing LD200 ratios.

In case you missed it... March Formula Renault BARC newsletter up on internalnews web site. Main news is 'free' test is no longer March 20th AND the replacement is no longer free! It will now be at Brands on April 17th & there will be a "minimal charge" of £150 + VaT!!

i must admit i'm not overly impressed by that, brands is also pretty irrelevant for testing/setting a car up, what works at brands doesn't usualy work anywhere else, it will shake the cob webs out though. On the positive note, as i read it i believe the test is exclusive, so we get to run all day, instead of sharing the day with the uk renaults

Yes, disappointing all round. Now, I hear that we were dumped to give the Clios more testing but now they have their dodgy upright issue, their test may be postponed, which means we maybe could have run? Just speculation.........

Anyway, 17th at Brands makes no sense to us either. We'll test elsewhere well before then. A £25 saving and maybe a garage isn't that much of an incentive, even though it's our closest track.

Not yet. Will wait until deadline and see how other testing goes. Appreciate that if we all do that it will be cancelled but don't see much value in it anyway.

Yes - it's not exactly an umissable deal is it. Saving over 'list' is frankly meaningless - but the plus is it is an exclusive day, apparently.

If it is cancelled do they refund some of our sign-on fee?

Ha Ha! I doubt it...........

It is an exclusive day which is useful if you have problems but if not........well, how many laps can you do, usefully?

Depends which class you want to run in, most teams will have seats available in the championship class, Falcon, russell, hillspeed, macob & Virtulli. Club class, try mike Read at reon motorsport or steff at muzz race

We'll be there. The open pit lane will be a big help as i have a new car to shake down & run in. I will put aside the morning for breaking down & the afternoon for setting up, usual rule of thumb first time out.

Should be a good day hopefully. I had heard a rumour that it was going to be a media day but was told yesterday that unfortunately it wasn't.

Whats the weather going to be like Bob?!

We have added another RC98 to our stable (my old one will be at brands in the hands of its new owner), but it will probably only be a stop gap between one of us trying to move into the FR2000 class, but we say that every year.

Which Autosport? The one out this week on thursday (i.e with review of Malaysian GP) or the one out last week (Preview of Malaysian GP)?
